GT3? is it fun to drive slowly?
I have read every single article and almost every post, but my question is this. If I'm not at the track and I'm driving on rural roads 30-60 is this fun in the GT3 or do you constantly feel the need to push it further, like you are not using enough of it?
Im especially wondering because the rev limit is high, so Im wondering if its (obviously not boring in any way), but just aggravating to not open it up. In my M3 I like on those roads to leave it in second and rev up (not dangerously at all) but let it rev and then come back down on the bends etc. like a very slow track day...I guess? Can anyone comment?
I don't like to speed on the roadways, but I like to feel the car in its rev range. Can anyone tell me what its like when driving a bit slower in this car?
Thanks

driving it slowly
One of the persistent realizations I get from my car is that it doesn't really matter if you drive it fast or slow, it just does whatever you ask of it without complaint or wimper. Drive slow, hang in a lower gear, goose it, wow! Practice on your smoothness, upshifting, downshifting, heel and toe. I am still amazed at what this car will do, with an air conditioner that actually works. I've had Porsche's with similar performance, but they could not driven on the street and they fouled spark plugs.
There are so many levels to enjoy this car; the sound, the steering, the brakes, the "o-mi-god" when you stick and hold past 8000, whew!

apparently, and I say apparently because I don't yet own one of these cars....lots of people find the 'feel' of the car very pleasant at ordinary speeds. The feedback of the steering, the excellent damping etc.

The car was meant to fly and when you can't, it's a little frustrating.

prior to going with hype - take time and test drive all available options.
GT3 is great for a track but you are not going to utilize it properly in city driving revving it up to 8K rpms on a regular basis. This has been discussed many times - for an average user right now a GTS car with SPASM, PDK, SC, sport adjustable seats is a killer combo at the price it gets sold, plus new DFI engine is apparently going to become new GT3 engine in 991 generation as well, so, there is nothing to fear really.
Plus GT3 specific suspension parts like LCAs, upper mounts, etc. can be installed on any street car Porsche makes.
PS. for street driving I probably should retract SPASM with LSD option, but it is so good on 997.2 cars (and only for $995) that is hurts t think about it. Porsche really got it done right there.
PPS: If you are in MA as I am you may forget about driving GT3 around our parts - you will get front lip torn off right away. My car sits 1.3 inch lower than stock height with no front lip and my whole front is deeply scratched all around. On GT3 car it would simply be broken off. That is why I do not even think to get aerokit on my car - it will make it unusable pretty much on regular streets.

The drive to and from the track is quite easy and painless. One tends to keep to the speed limits and get the best mileage by keeping the revs around 2500rpm. Driving around town with the revs up you only average 12 mpg. The only reason to get a GT3 is to experience it and the feeling of "total control" over your car under any condition (street or track). The downside is the lack of clearance over road hazards. But keep a couple of front spoilers handy and you should be fine.
These cars go slow? If someone has figured out how to do that, please let me know. To me, it would be like having a naked super model lying on your bed and you not acting on it. Too much temptation for me.
Only one way I know to not drive one fast. And, that is, don't get in it.

I'm sure it's fun to drive slow but my car won't let me.
On a serious note, I prefer to drive my Spyder on the street, the GT3 is boring at the posted speed limit, feels like I'm idling.
