Hello everyone,

I'm posting this for friend of mine who is a board member ( nasser ). He will be taking delivery of his engine soon. It will be capable of at least 1200HP. We are searching for the best tires out there to get the most out of the new modification. For a matter of fact, I know No tires can prevent wheel spin at low speed with this level of power but would love to hear from everyone some advices.

Hey bro,

On stock 19's rims. Best you could get r either Michelin or Perilli, otherwise he'd have to pick diffrent rims ..

 

On 19" rims another option is Hoosier R6 or A6. For road track the R6 is best choice ( other than a true race slick ).

true race slicks will work as well. but what brand and size. Not all tires manufacturers make the factory size. Any one run toyo R888 on GT2?

 

I have never used true race slicks ( Hoosier, Michelin, etc. ) so I can't comment on them. I have run Toyo R888's on the track and I do not like them as much as Hoosier R6's. Toyo's do not have near the grip the Hoosiers have, but the Toyo's may last a little longer.

 

what size toyo are you running? the problem toyo's do not come in 325.


I think best is hoosier for now. what about Mickey Thompson?

2. 1200hp, you shouldn't drive anything with that hp. it's called suicide machine.
3. depends on where you run the car. hoosiers isn't that sticky, try michelin slicks.
4. sizes also depends on where you run the car. and how wide your wheels are. but with 1200hp, i would run a LOT wider than 325. on my 996 i run 315 and 997 i run 335. i only run stock engine. at your hp. i would do no less than 355. anything less, you simple wont get power to the ground. if they dont fit, pull and roll the fender. otherwise you have way too much hp for tire size.
5. R888 is NOT sticky by any stretch of imagination.

If it's straight line only, go with a Mickey Thompson drag radial.

 

Agreed... get a Mickey, Hoosier, BFG, Nitto, or Toyo drag radial and hope that the axles can withstand the abuse. Also consider going to a minus-1 wheel fitment, so you've got some more sidewall for grip.

 

Tire Rack stocks the Pirelli 355/25R19. It's built for the Murcielago but will work on the Porsche if you use a 13 inch wide rim. I think this is your best shot.
I will check with some contacts in Europe about some 13 inch wide slicks and let you know.
