This gives my initial thoughts on owning two at the same time.

You'll have to call Dean, seems to be a few cars on sale at all times on call...just have to check in from time to time...
I've been mind****ing myself on a 07/08 gt3 vs a RS vs a 2010 GT3..
just trying to get as much info as i can... one day i want a black one, one day it's a white one... etc...

My daily driver is a 07 BMW ALPINA.. i did the same thing to myself before i bought it, one day black, one day white, i finally bought the white one and i love it.... now i need a gt3... but which one?

I would personally buy the newer car. The RS is definitely a rare car etc, etc but I cannot say no to the extra displacement, the extra warranty and the extra power...

The 2010. The engine and suspension improvements alone are worth it.

Have to agree with Alex. Have driven both and with a tune, the RS is same HP but revs quicker IMO with the lighter flywheel..arguably unless u race it, really doesnt matter.

The other improvements to gen 2 are well documented, but for me when i go to a porsche event or a local car forum event, the guys with a black gen 2 gt3 and a white a white gen 2 get looks and people checking out their car, but no where near the activity around my orange RS. There is just something historic from a heritage point of view about the green and orange RS going back to the 70s that i find very soulful, and i think others do as well.

Yes the gen 2 is technically better, but the gen 1 has more soul IMO. As a guitarist, the gen 2 conjures images of Robben Ford/Steve Vai surgical precision, yet the Gen 1 RS is the vehicle equivalent of Hendrix/SRV/Clapton....not as technically gifted, but so much bigger in the overall impact to the listener and experience. The gen 2 hits my head, the gen 1 rs hits my heart. Are you experienced? Alex knows what i am saying.....

Hey i know its just a car, but for me its the total experience....to each his own

+1.....

IMO, GT cars are performance cars intended for the track. The fastest and most capable out of the box is the 2010 GT3 without significant mods (suspension etc)...

It depends on what you're after, and how you intend to use it... outright performance- 2010 gt3. If exclusivity etc etc are more important to you, 997.1 RS....

Tough decision and a good problem to have. I would lean toward the Gen 2 GT3 just because of all the noted improvements in the car, warranty, etc......I own a Gen 1 GT3 and have driven a Gen 2 extensively, and I have to say that the Gen 2 is a great choice if your budget can handle it.

Good luck with the hunt - it is a lot of fun and an exciting time.

I would go for the RS. There is just something a bit more special about the RS. Warranties can be had for either but you will never turn a GT3 into a GT3 RS.

RS. The fat *** and "RS" on the side makes all the difference.

While I have to agree with most on the 997.2 GT3 being the better, newer choice, there is something about an RS that can't really be described. Drive both and you'll know what we mean. While the regular GT3 is no slouch by any means, the RS is always something special. Hard to describe, it must be felt.

However, were it my choice, I would probably end up with the 997.2 GT3, mainly because while I do enjoy the "rawness" of the RS, the refinement and updated creature comforts do make a difference.

I could see a very fair compromise being a 997.2 GT3 w/ Dynamic Engine Mounts and the Sport Bucket seats.

In the end, I would go with your gut/heart on the choice, especially if this is meant to be a long term relationship.
