Gt3 Test Drive
Gt3 Test Drive
Just test drove a GT3 while the x50 was in for service. Dam the salesman!!!!!!!! GREAT FUN! Wrestling with the decision to have another 996 in the garage ( can't give up the torque). Any opinions on depreciation of this model?
$ 115k sticker, $ 113k asking. PCCB and a few other options.
What exhasut/ECU/ intake to up power a little and improve exhaust note?
The high of a new toy is very addicting!!!!!!!!!!!
Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
Cannot reply to threads yet. Sorry

Yeah, but that exhaust note is still too tame for this kind of a car. Bobk, buy a car and then PM me about my new Titanium exhaust--longtube s.s. headers, Ti link pipes, cat housings, mufflers, tips, 30 lbs! Sound is Ferrari-shriek-like, not surprising since the German guys who make the system do aftermarket exhausts for Ferarris and Lamborghinis.
(Oh, forgot to mention-- kinda expensive... )

Get yourself and all the people in the immediate vicinity some earmuffs to go with your bypasses. Holger must be of especially hardy stock, probably a Viking or something...
(Oh, and if someone tells you they can get you 420 hp out of a 381 hp normally aspirated car with a chip, air filter, and exhaust, make sure you select the Tooth Fairy as your designated driver).

use a 1.15 factor for tranny loss and you have approx 425. With Neil's reflash (RS Tuning program???) I bet my car would be 435-440 at the crank. Porsche grossly underestimated the crank hp on these cars for their published specs...

Yo, Keeper of the Orto-Meter, and other devices that produce Endless Power:
I don't know what I'm talking about, huh? Geez, that was kind of harsh--and I sell some similar stuff, too...
Come and see me when you've been on an engine dyno, Tuner Man--one where the barometric pressure or ambient temperature correction wasn't adjusted too much. (Not saying your numbers reflect this, but a common practice, alas, by manufacturers... )
You're saying the Factory left 40+ hp on the table and an exhaust, air filter, and chip can get you there on a non-turbocharged car without raising the compression, swapping cams, etc. Hot dawg, free horsepower!
I have seen numerous European exhaust systems produce power that fell well short of the claimed increase. TuV apparently stands for "Trust und Verify."
I also know of commercial exhaust makers and one top Cupcar race team that have tested some of these ornaments and come up with similar results. So just because it was made by Elves in the Black Forest doesn't mean diddly. This is the aftermarket we're talking about, not the Afterlife
