Insurance??
Any ideas on which insurance company to pick for my 2010 RS? I was quoted $600/month (mercury insurance) to cover my car, and think that is is somewhat excessive. They said the reason is that this car is meant to be on a track and not on the roads. I told them that this is not a Cup car, but they did not understand what that meant.
I use amerprise financial and have never found anyone close to their rates. Only issue is they won't insure some high value cars like my 08 turbo and I had to go with aaa. If you have a costco card it also saves you 20% on their rates.
I thought State Farm was the only one that DID cover the track as long as it was a DE and no timing involved? One of their agents was advertising this spring at SP during an event and I was going to switch next year just for that very reason...

Try American Modern, they're similiar to Hagerty in that they specialize in high end/collector cars...I'm paying AM $850/year for my 10 rs. My primary insurance co. for all of my other vehicles quoted me significantly higher, and they didn't "understand" the vehicle.
I almost went with State Farm...but felt AM could be better if there is an incident...

I just got my State Farm bill, $424 every six months, usual discounts for multiple lines, multiple cars, safety record, annual low mileage etc. I do have a high deductable, $1,000 which helps. Good luck.
This is exactly what my state farm agent has told me: coverage so long as no timing, no racing, etc. If it is a DE type event with instructors present, then you are covered.
My 996TT shows up rated as a GT2 because of the X50 option. My insurer is Liberty Mutual. It is an excess vehicle (ie not my daily driver and less than 3,000 miles a year). Clean record. Policy limits $250k/$500k/$100k. $500 deductable. Costing me $579 A YEAR.
Curious how that quote compares to your previous TTS. Is it in the same ballpark?
