Popped my cherry at Road Atlanta

What a track; an incredible experience! The Elevation changes and blind turns are insane! loved every minute of it. Here is a link to my best lap of 1:37. Chin Motorsport put on an excellent event. Chris Harris was at the event and took me in a 996 cup car. He did 1:30 his first time ever on this track.

Wow, 162? Those cars have some serious giddy-up. Sorry I didn't get to meet you, there were so many GT3, GT3RS, GT2 RS's, Cups etc. I didn't know where to start. Were you with the other 3 RS's parked in the middle of the paddock?

1:37 is an excellent time at Road Atlanta for a first time. You picked it up really quickly. My student Nick also ran a 1:37 in his 10' GT3.

BTW, nice smooth driving line as well!!

Nice driving and video! Is it just me, or does that track seem to have a pretty uneven surface and quite a few walls on the sides. I bet that gets the adrenaline going.

Thank you for the kind words.

Heavychevy - thank you so much for all the traqmate data. It was so helpful to have a reference point for breaking an acceleration. I cannot thank you enough.

Aerodude - No the track is pretty even; not bumpy like seabring. But what it does have are banked and cambered corners which makes it wicked fast especially turn 6; you can carry a tone of speed. If you've never been it really is a must that you go. The elevation and blind corners are awesome!

997gt3A - I'm running Hossier's R6 - and they were incredible.

Its crazy but the entire second day I was doing lap times of 1:39-1:42. I then did a few laps with Chris Harris in a 996 Cup Car and watched his line. I then changed my line and braked a little later and was able to get consistent laps of 1:37 and 1:38.

Incredible all around time! Can't wait till next year. I'll at homestead Dec 17 with ERME.

Nice, I'm glad you liked my home track. Hope to see you out there again sooner than later. I can try and keep up with you and your Hoosiers.

That track is an absolute dream! Coming down into turn 12 holy **** is that scary. I love how some of the turn are banked especially trun 6. Turn 7 caused me the most problem. Nothing major but to hit it just right with enough speed coming out into the straight makes all the difference. I think Sebring is equally as challenging, but coming from from FL the elevation is sick.

Heavychevy - I was in the back by MTI racing (had all those screaming load vetts). Sorry we didn't hook up but it wont be my last time there thats forsure.

Great driving!

I think I saw your GT3, but whenever I wanted to link up, couldnt find you. (You being down by MTI explains it)

I was in the Black GT3, and my buddy deputydog95 in his yellow. Super fun track, and we had a blast.

HeavyChevy - Want to thank you again for all the help. Your a badass instructor. Hopefully I made you proud going off road the first session....

Congrats on your first trip to Road Atlanta. I have been driving there off and on since 1985. The track may change but it never gets old and it's alway exciting.

Very good time for first time at Road Atlanta. Also one of my favorite tracks. I was out there on Sunday; great time and luckily the weather held up.
