Modest track mods for GT3.1

All, I have a '07 GT3, looking to do some modest track mods to strengthen weaker stock parts. I track 6 - 8 times per year and am concerned about wear and ultimate failure of OEM Porche parts. What parts see the most wear and which should be replaced? Thanks!

If you're worried about failure, the biggest concern would be the coolant fitting on the motor the pops and dumps all over your rear wheels causing serious spins and accidents for not only you, but everyone behind you. This doesn't happen a lot, but it is on the list of "failures" A lot of people go with the dogbones/toe links/bump steer kits to get rid of the rubber bushings in the suspension. Get a track alignment from a shop who knows what they're doing and have fun. Keep flushing your brakes every so often as well. Out of the box these cars are great.

Any idea on the cost for that fix? I'm in the same boat as the OP. Already have done dogbones and good alignment, plus Tequipment seats and bar. And I assume the potential issue exists on a 2005 GT3

It ranges from shop to shop, but I have seen a $2000 average. Engine needs to come out, coolant drained, about 2 days of work.

Other mod that is common is replacing the shifter cable with one from a 996 Cup Car. I am also doing brake caliper stud conversion. I had the LF caliper bolt strip out of the Knuckle on my 997C2S under heavy braking on the track.

Did you see a change when you went with the new dog bones? What were the costs? Thanks for all the help.

For track use:

1- get your LSD rebuilt by Guard Transmission.
2- rear toe links (I would suggest getting rid of pretty much all the rubber in the suspension)
3- GT2 rear sway bar (thicker than .1 rear bar, reduces initial understeer)
4- coolant pipe fix is also important as other people mentioned, if you do this try to replace the RMS as well

I'm thinking about doing the 996 cup shifter cable as well.

IMHO if you haven't done it already, your first mods should be safety mods: 6-point harness, roll bar, HANS, and seats with pass-through holes for the harness.
