Just picked up my 2010 GT3..have questions
Just picked up my new 2010 GT3...car is great but I have a ton of questions. 8,800 miles on the car. The dealer showed me the inspection report saying the brakes were good (in the Green) on this form with Green, Yellow, Red. I swear when I step on the brakes it does not sound good. Almost like it's grinding???? When I talked to the service folks- they said the car is only due for a brake fluid maintnance???? Not sure what that is- I guess just fluids? Also, when I pulled it in the garage- I could smell what I guess is hot brakes- there was more heat coming off the back than the front.
One other thing- after I filled the car up last night with fuel- it turned over quite a bit- like it didn't want to start. Also, I stalled the car later- and it just turned over. Then it started and is running fine. I've get to learn about the Info Messages- perhaps I should read the book. I thought about taking it in- because they are going to do the brake service anyway. Any, help would be apprecriated.

Congrats and welcome.
I'd ask for the actual thickness of the pads as condition "color" is really meaningless. Is this a Porsche or high line dealer? If the brakes are squealing, that's pretty normal. The factory pads are fairly aggressive and will do that. I can only imagine that "brake fluid maintenance" would mean a brake fluid bleed/flush. No big deal. I'd also ask when the last time the other fluids were changed and potentially do them (oil, tranny) as well.
The turnover without starting would be a concern to me. I'd have the dealer take a look and try to replicate the problem. Check the gas cap and make sure it's tight to be safe.
Definitely read the manual. Lots of good info to be gleaned.
Where in CA are you?

As Chris said, check the thickness of your pads. If there is adequate pad left, try bedding the pads in.
Also, it normal for the car to give off a lot of heat and have a slight burning smell. My car has been like that from the very first day and I think that is inherent with all GT3's.

Also,
Load test the battery. Perhaps if the car was not driven frequently and was not kept on a battery tender, the battery is due to be replaced. May not have enough left in it to start the car properly.

thanks guy's for the help. Chris, I'm in the Sout bay Beach beach cities area- so probably close to you. Bought from the P Dealer that originally sold it- in Torrance. I'd like to think the car is perfect- but I'm starting to worry now. It's already- twice-that it cranked over really fast but didn't want to start- I backed off the key and it started up. Runs perfect, no hesitation and no codes. I guess I just take it back and let them look at. It has 8,800 miles and the previous owner took delivery of it on 12/2009, so I'm told it has 22 months of factory warranty- it's not certified. Also, it has a Selicoat spray, 3M bra, and a tire warrenty through fidelity.
As far as service- they told me it was do for a "Brake Fluid Maintnanace" service next month and it's 1,100.00. I think I should have asked better questions. The oil was just changed 5 months ago- and there has never been any major service yet. Does any of this seem right- better yet wrong? I've been looking for this car since last October- so I didn't buy on impulse.
If I take to the dealer and tell them about the "not starting issue" will I have to pay shop rate for them to diagnosis- especially if they can't find that- or is that just considered warranty? I don't mind paying the service it needs- but I can't help but worry I paid for something that may have already had an issue.

1. Take it to the dealer and let them sort the problem. It is under warranty and that should be covered. There should be no charge unless you did something to cause damage (doesn't sound like that).
2. Any reason you didn't choose to get it CPO'd? I would highly recommend it if it's still an option. Assuming car is up to spec, it should cost around $2500.
3. $1100!? I would ask exactly what that entails. If just a fluid flush, that is ridiculous. If pads are involved, still seems high. You have the luxury of having two great indy shops nearby: GMG and Stuttgart Performance. Both can do regular maintenance with better skill and at a cheaper cost than any dealer. Might be a good idea to have one of them do the once over on your car now while the sale is still fresh. If they find any significant problems, better to address now.
4. See #1
I would suggest you wander over to the Rennlist GT3 forums. There is a huge wealth of info there. I would suggest learning a bit more about your car, the usual maintenance and the wonders of dealer "service".
Best of luck.

I would just take it back to Pacific Porsche and tell them to check it out. They shouldn't charge you for it.
These cars are nearly bullet proof but every now and then you might come across a problem.

Do you have PCCB's or Steel brakes?
Noisy brakes on your car are pretty standard, but if you have steel brakes I would make sure the previous owner did not swap in a track pad. If so they need heat and could eat up your rotors around the street.
Congrates on the car and enjoy!!!

Chris/SKXF430- do you guys meet anywhere in SoCal- other than probably track days at Willow? I was thinking if there was a "meet-up" of GT3 owners- that would also give me a chance to gain additional knowledge, etc.
thanks

Check out Supercar Sunday in at Woodland Hills Promenade mall each Sunday. The last Sunday of each month brings out the most cars. A pretty good mixture of cars and a handful of Porsche GT cars show up.
Check out the "Time to take the P cars Out" thread in the Socal region board.
+1 on Supercar Sunday. If you're going to make it out, shoot me a PM and I'll meet you out there. It's very close to me.
