Roebling Road - Any pointers or Traqmate Data?
Roebling Road - Any pointers or Traqmate Data?
Hello mates. Heading to Roebling Road in a couple of weeks for the first time and was wondering if any one can give me any suggestions on how to tackle it. I've been watching YouTube videos. If anyone has any traqmate data to share that would be awesome! Also what's considered a decent lap time in a gt3 rs? Thank you in advance.
RRR is a easy track to learn BUT a hard track to master. Momentum is key there! It is filled with a bunch of high speed corners and really works the left side tires so make sure you swap side to side for day 2.
It is a very safe track but just remember, if you ever get loose in 9 - DO NOT TRY AND SAVE IT. Drive off. They will let you know that more then once in the driver's meeting.
Trakcar (Peter) runs great laps there. He is usually in the 1:18 range on shaved RA1s. Last time he went he popped off a few mid to high 1:17s. I can't give you GT3RS lap times from me but in my 997S I'd be in the 1:21 range on R888s, a C6Z in the 1:20s on max perf street tires, and 1:19s in a FFR Cobra (347ci) rep with Nitto NT01s. If I go WAY back, my old 1979 Alfa was a slick 1:28!!! 2.0 liter 120rwhp baby! LOL.
There are plenty of videos from Peter and search for Leh Keens RRR vids. I have a few posted as well.
Enjoy!

Depends on what tires you are running but in a .2 the fastest guys are 1:175 territory on R Compounds, I'd be happy with anything sub 1:20 your first time out.
A few good YouTube watches
Randy (Izzone)

Leh Keen 1:17 in a M3 (particularly watch turn 4)
Few quick pointers, downshift to 4th in the braking, then to 3rd at the point between turn 1 and 2 (it's a double Apex).
Turn 3 has a bit more grip on the inside than you'd expect, turn in a bit early and get to power earlier.
Turn 5 aside from 9, holds the most secrets and time at this track, but also one of the trickier corners of the track. Don't be scared to try a ton of lines here and review the data.

I haven't watched Randy's in-car until now. He sure does saw away at the wheel. That seems like a lot of extra work!

The Leh in the M3 video is the one I typically watch, its' very similar to the line I used (especially in 5)
While I may not agree with it, I've ridden with him and it seems to work in his car / setup. I'm always too lazy or too busy to put a damn camera in the car when I'm out there, maybe I'll change that up when I go in a few weeks.

I use the same line in 5 as Leh too. His is a little diff in 5 and 7 but I plan on trying and comparing the data.

Thank you everyone for the tips! Can't wait to get there. Peter if you don't mind sharing your traqmate data I'd for sure like to see it; your data was a big help when I first went to sebring. Thanks.
What a freakn awesome track. Short but damb fast. Apparently I wasn't fast enough compared to you maniacs. I was did the PCA instructor course on friday (passed it) and left sunday so I only had 1 day. Best lap wast a 1:21. Where the hell can I gain 4 seconds only my traqmate will know. Need to study it. Thanks for all the tips. It really helped. Did a different line on Turn 6 which Josh Barnes showed me. Very nice!

The Darkside is a great group. I'll be there with my BMW.
Al, glad you had a good time at the event...
Here is some video that shows the line we can work on in Sept
... a few laps behind a GT3 DE Cup'er and then a low 116 lap.
If you want the traqmate data, just let me know and I can send it when I get back into town this weekend.

Thanks Josh...I'd love to see your traqmate data. Seeing that vett crash and those other 996 cups damaged this weekend finally convinced me to sell my RS and get a track only car for de and club race with nasa, pca and pboc. I just cant justify risking 135k on the track where I can probably have just as much fun with a 50k car. The RS will be on ebay weeks end. I'll post a link. September looks good for me. See you then if not sooner at sebring.
