2010 GT3 vs 2011 GT3 RS?

Hey guys,

So I'm finally doing it, trading in the TT for a .2 GT3. After lots and lots of deliberation, test drives and Chris Harris videos , I did some soul searching and had an epiphany. There is nothing like a RWD, N/A sports car to rattle your senses. It's not just about power for me anymore, it's about the entire driving experience and try as I might with mods to the Turbo, I don't think it'll ever be like a GT3. With that said...

I'm now torn between a 2010 GT3 and a 2011 RS. There's approx a $20k price difference, and I'm curious to know exactly what the differences are between the 2. I know the RS makes more power and is a bit lighter, but what else? I was hoping to address the power difference with a tune. Does the RS have a wider body? How different is the gearing? Can I get the GT3 to be close to an RS with a tune and LWFW? I'm trying to get a definitive list here to help me make my decision. Thanks in advance.

What do you plan to do with the GT3? Dedicated Track toy? RS is a wide body. To make the GT3 into RS, i think it costs more than 20k cost difference. Rear deck, gear ratio, clutch, bucket seats etc. Ask youself what you plan to do with it. But if money is no object, I would get the RS and be done with it. Period. Both are addictive and cannot go wrong. I think as Mooty said, "How will you waste your mone?"

I agree with the advice above. You are going to spend some money to get a GT3 to have similar features to an RS. Just get the RS if you are having to decide between the two. I wish I had that problem!

RS and its not even close. The car is so quick and responsive. And it's very fast.

Having driven both of them, the RS is much more then 20k better. After driving the GT3, I thought it was a great model for a 911 and was very enjoyable to drive.
The GT3RS, made me think of how I could get away with explaining to the wife why I just brought a new car home. I was in a state of lust and desire for many days after.
I also felt that way with the GT2 and ended up with it instead.

Good for you to get a proper 911. After experiencing the GT models of 911's, I don't see myself getting an awd turbo.

RS vs Turbo
Wow that is a big step!! Make sure you know yourself better than what you just "want". A turbo is hands down a better road car than an RS. If you plan on doing mostly track days, you will be happy, great choice.

But if your 2010 or 2011 RS will be driven only on the road and an occasional track day or none, you are going to miss your turbo. A lot.

Track days do it for me and a GT3RS is the near perfect tool right out of the box. It's the only reason I chose it over a turbo.

Thanks guys. Your responses have definitely helped me sway my decision, and I decided to go for the RS

I am very close to making a deal and will hopefully be the new proud owner of a 2011 GT3 RS by the end of Saturday.

You know, I test drove the RS around the streets of Springfield for quite a while, and I gotta say, it can be docile if you need it to be. This was an extended test drive and I was really able to get a feel for the comfort factor and while stiff, it was something that can be tolerated.
