Congratulations! Now that it's up and going, are you allowed to disclose the amount of money it cost to put right? Obviously the man hours that you guys were able to put into the vehicle is the real savings here and not everyone has the skill necessitated to do such a wonderful job as you guys have. But the cost for parts and any/everything you had to farm out. I'm just curious what it took to "save" a car like this. Thanks for the update and taking us on this voyage. It's really nice to see you save a car from having to be parted out and then rendered to the junk heap.

I'll either create a build thread down the line and post in that, or just update this thread. Either way it'll be labeled and I'll post the link/updates in here.

It's been about a month since we finished. Figured i'd post a quick update -- We've restored a second GT3 and put almost 1,000 on each of them with no major problems yet(knock on wood!). Only thing we had was an intermittent starting problem that we tracked down to a corroded ground strip by the rear wheel. We cleaned that connection with a wire wheel and it's been working since. State inspections were really easy, passed with flying colors except we could barely pull the cars into the bay and none of their jacks would fit under. So they used a borescope to pull the serial numbers! lol!

Managed to find an '04 turbo with 3,700miles that were working on now. This project is a bit more involved though! Just sent the turbos off to be rebuilt as k16/16g hybrids a few days ago.

I originally saw this thread on the M5board. Good to see you were able to complete the cleanup and that everything is working fine. Now that you have done a 2nd and are working on a 3rd are you looking at reselling these cars? I have thought about finding a salvage title car for track use or to use for a build etc....

Thanks for following! Unfortunately we're going to keep these cars. They're just too much fun to get rid of. I'll be buying the white 997 from my dad and he's developed a crush on the silver gt3. Originally, before any of this, he was looking at 996tt so he's going to keep this as a weekly driver. If we find more deals though and decide to keep buying, we'll be looking to sell some since we're out of garage space. I'll keep you in mind.

Hi,
Great blog. What paint did you use to repaint the lug bolts?
Thanks

I have to check on the brand for you, but it's just caliper paint from Advance Auto. Really solid stuff, I've had the wheels off a couple times on both cars with an impact and aluminum lug socket and it's held up fine.

Promised some pictures... this is the best I can do from now. Credit to LFD for the shots from last weekend.
