Went to the historic races both Sat and Sun, and hung at Russo-Steele Sat night, had a great time at all. The races were just incredible. That's the only way to see those cars. Sitting around on grass just doesn't do it for me!

The group that runs the event sold it to another company that screwed everything up logistically last year.
The signs & directions to get there were all wrong. (In prior years you had to park at Fort Ord and take buses to the golf course, in '04 you were supposed to be able to park there.) We had bought tickets in advance that included parking in preferred lots. We get lucky and find it before the event begins...but the parking we paid for is all full (huh?!). They have 12 year old kids directing traffic that tell us to park elsewhere, but they don't know where or how to get there. We drive around and find another "lot"...a cow field with enourmous holes everywhere (in my 2 day old GT3). I almost destroy my car (watched many people damage theirs) and I only drove thru a small part of the field (this is after the 12 year olds directing traffic wave in me and an oncoming car at the same time and I just miss having a collision). I could go on, but you get the point.
So, in the past year I've been inundated with e-mails & snail mail telling me how they're making big improvements this year. No problem, since I (and many other people) have no plans to go there again after my horrible experience last year.

Damn. That stinks.
Is there a shuttle from downtown? I've not been to Concorso before, so I'd like to attend, but I'll leave my car at the hotel if the parking's treacherous like that. I'll check with my hotel and hopefully come up with something.

I love the car watching there. A couple of years ago outside the auction at the Doubletree, there were a ton of hotrods cruising the street out front...and in the middle of it all was a McLaren F1! Don't see that everyday. (Most people had no idea what it was.)
I'm heading up mid-day Thurs from San Diego. Don't know who's going yet that day, but maybe we can do a SoCal caravan. Somebody mentioned it on here weeks ago. I'll start a threat in OT on it tomorrow.

Dave and all others, the key is to buy the Corral Parking, its nearly the same cost as paying for two people admission fee, accept you get to park in the main area and two people get in. No busses or shuttles to deal with, its the only way to go. Prices have gone up since its closer to the event, but I'd still do it If i were you guys.
