24,000 mile service question
24,000 mile service question
So my car is coming upon the 24,0000 mile service interval and I was wondering what you guys have done. I called my local dealership and they quoted me $1800 for the service. I know they major things are replacing the spark plugs, oil change, maybe drive belt and the filters but $1800 seems very steep for those things. I feel like I'm getting robbed. I was thinking about doing the oil change, replacing the spark plugs and changing the filters myself. I would have a local trusted shop do a complete inspection.
So what do you guys think?
Thanks in advance

If you buy Porsche parts, especially plugs the price is steep. The plugs are half price if you by the same plug without the porsche stamp. Changing the plugs is easy if your center mufflers are off the car. If still on I could imagine the space would be tight making it a PITA. Belt and air filter is easy. Not sure what else is involved.
Good for you. For me it is satisfying to work on the car. One trick my tech had was to push up the rubber that covers the coil wires then you can easily separate the wires from the coil. From there it is remove the two screws on each coil and off you go.
Next time get these plugs: Bosch Y5DDC and save big. Ask me how I know! I too purchased from Suncoast, who is my go to supplier. They offer good pricing, it is Porsche that is marking this one up.

I just completed 30k and paid $1200. Although I didn't have them touch my brakes or change my brake fluid. I have another shop maintaining my braking system. I did have my car serviced at 20k as well and paid $800ish,I believe. The bulk of the 30k was for the plugs.
Thanks guys for advice.
I just finished the oil change but by accident I loosened the bolt by the crankcase. Some oil came out by only a few drops. Does anybody know what it is?
