991 GT3 - no Sport Bucket option in US

Proven in the GT3 configurator, the US won't have an option for Sport Bucket seats (due to lack of side airbags I believe). If Porsche can develop such an advanced track-oriented car as this new GT3, you think they could evolve the Sport Bucket seat to comply with US standards, not take the option away all together.

Do you think they will eventually release a new Sport Bucket for US standards, or leave this to aftermarket companies to fill the void?

Makes you wonder if 997 Sport Buckets could be swapped in post-purchase.

The 2010-12 GT3 & GT3RS had Sport Bucket Seats that had an included airbag.
Why the 991 GT3 is not offering Sport Bucket Seats is a mystery.

Just reason number two for me not getting this car.

Previous sport buckets did have airbag.

Perhaps this option isn't available yet.... Lets wait and see when the ordering guides are released.

I'm not defending PCNA's decision but my understanding is that each seat option must be individually crash tested and the fact that the 997.2 was crash tested with the sports bucket doesn't mean a lot when it comes to meeting US federal reg's.

Hopefully PCNA can make the business case and crash test the sport buckets to offer them here. They are AMAZING seats, even if the take rate is very, very low.

it is frustrating not getting the good seats here. I just played with the German configurator... So many better options, especially the Clubsport package...

When I purchased my last new 911, many options were in the catalog that were not on the online configuration application. Perhaps the catalog will include additional goodies like the seats.

Swiss_Aussie is infamous around these parts
I wouldn't get too upset about what the online configuration shows as PDK is also showing as an option, when clearly it's not....

Major FAIL from Porsche not putting Sport Seat option for USA.

On the 997 cars this was a $2990 option. You can order Sport Bucket seats from Suncoast Porsche for $6800 + Shiiping and instal labor. However I wonder is brackets and mount holes are the same on 997 and 991 cars?

+1 They have not done the crash tests using these seats.
