Never owned a Porsche... think I'll step into a CGT

Well I've been doing quite a bit of research on the CGT -one of the last analogue supercars to be ever built.
I recently test drove a 997.1 GT3 RS, but as some may know...I want maximum emotive, visceral rawness. I want to be challenged by the car, and rewarded by it's driving experience. NO technological nanny aids. Just a PURE sports car.
I can't think of a better car to own, than a CGT.

I have 2 Loti and a 16M which are pretty raw. I am hoping the CGT adds exponentially to the experience.

Any owners of CGT's, I would appreciate any tips and wisdom. I already know about the clutch and first gear.

I am very close.............................

I wish you luck and especially good health when driving a CGT- especially from some one that's never even owned a 911.
Then, you might be the exception.

CGT as your first pcar....hmmmm lets see that's going to be the equivalent of attempting to appease a hungry lion at the circus with zero experience as a lion tamer.....good luck with that.

I don't see how previous ownership of a 911 should be a prerequisite for owning a CGT. This is a mid engine car with a unique clutch. Completely different cars. It's a street legal race car. I've had several years of racing experience with some very finicky race cars.
It's not like I'm going to be racing this car.

Anyhow I'll share my experience upon arrival.
Any positive comments are welcome

Simply an amazing car in many ways. Congratulations!

While out on business last week in Raleigh was able to tour the Porsche exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Lots of amazing cars on display, e.g. 959 and the CGT.

Look forward to your thoughts.

My father has a CGT and it is hands down the best car I have ever driven. It is exactly what a supercar should be in my eyes....

I think the CGT is one of the greatest supercars ever built. I also think you will have a ball with it (911 experience not required if you are an experienced driver and enthusiast, IMO). Please share photos, price and driving experience to the extent you feel comfortable.

I've had my CGT for about 4 years. The excitement of driving this car does not fade over time. That is the biggest difference from all other cars I've owned. Each time you climb inside, fire it up...is like the first.
The radio? I've turned it on perhaps twice for about a minute to make sure it still works. Not sure why this car even has one. Music will be the last thing on your mind. In fact most thoughts will leave your mind while driving, perhaps even where you are going. What you will be aware of is the feel and vibrations of this machine penetrating your body, the sound of the exhaust filling your ears, and a response to your clutch, shifting, and steering input that will blow you away. Oh yes, and the acceleration is not bad either...

Excellent post!

OP - good luck! It sounds like you've narrowed down your criteria, and I can't think of anything else that would satisfy at this point.

Mike thanks a lot! Inspiring!
I noticed you are in CA - I'm in SoCal, maybe we can go for a drive in our CGT's some time in the future. I'm looking forward to the raw nature and emotional connection this car will provide.

I've researched the car I'm about to pick up and it looks a beaut - engine out serviced few months back with valve adjustment, new tires, reasonable clutch life, DME clean tho need further interpretation.
Car has a Tubi exhaust but ill replace with stock - like the clean higher pitched F1 sound. Mike do you have straight pipes? I may do that if I want a louder sound.
If all works out I should have car in a couple weeks, just in time for Motor4Toys!!!

I'm a Porsche guy but if I were dropping that kind of $$ for an analogue supercar, I'd rather have an F40. I realize it's more expensive but I believe it's a better investment in the long-term as well (and seems more exciting to drive).
