not really.

to me, it is either the traditional manual with a left foot operated clutch, or anything else. "Anything else" means I can drive from point A to B without the need to change any gear myself.

I did not include sequential transmission as it is not available for street cars.

No, this is not a discussion of which is better.

but it's not a sequential manual. it's a dual clutch automatic, and no, I'd still want to row my own. I'm not a race car driver, don't need to be the fastest on the track, and I like to shift.

Sequential manual still requires a clutch...as in the Ruf CTR3

Why are so many people trying to convince us that we should switch away from our personal preference? Nothing against the PDK, it's a fabulous transmission, but regardless of what name you choose to give it I prefer to stick with a clutch and manual trans.

Clutch pedal you mean? That's not necessarily true. Even mechanical transmissions can have auto blips and paddle shifters on them. Sequential manual describes a format of transmission but technically even PDK qualifies as sequential manual.

I love the manual, I dont know what I would have done if the GT3 had come with PDK-s or manual, if the PDK-s was faster,it was so much a no-brainer in the olden days manual without a doubt, but if its true PDK-S is that much faster , then what?

race car technology

Not every race car technology can be translated to the street. Center lock wheels are one. Center lock has an obvious advantage on a track. On the street, not so much. There is no doubt that PDK is the ticket on the track. On the street? Allows you to dial that cell phone with greater speed.

porsche should have just eliminated the automatic function on gt3 so you have to use paddles everytime drive it. ferrari challenge cars do that i believe. that might have made dct more palatable to drivers who want more involvement

transmision i want to see is a combo unit where has clutch pedal and stick shift then with change of settings, can use paddles. best of both worlds. im sure someone could invent such a thing

For GT cars there is a kit that changes the transmission to a sequential shifter like a cup car. That keeps the clutch to get the car moving then you just bang up/down with the shifter. No paddles with this setup. If my car were 100% track this is something I'd consider.
