991 GT3 or C7 Z06?
And the C2S owner will always wish for what he could have..

Please understand that the majority of those who can afford a C7 Z06, could afford any 911 currently in the lineup, if that's what they wanted. I know I certainly can. And as much as I love Porsche, I'll be getting the Z06 this time around.

But please keep going. I can tell I'm going to enjoy this.

True - there is a significant price disconnect between the demographic willing - and able - to buy a $50k car, a $100k car and a $150k car. These are not basic transportation and fall squarely in the discretionary and / or stretch buy bucket. And that's ok - I grew up in a working class household and appreciate it.

Regardless, the worst part is when insecure wannabes make disparaging remarks about an entire group of people ("Corvette buyers"), on the basis of how much their cars cost. As a Porsche owner, I find it to be quite embarrassing as it only serves to reinforce the negative Porsche stereotype.

There are definitely large disparities in demographics at those price levels. But to assume that the majority of Z06 buyers, who can swing a $100k car as a toy, can't afford a 911, well…that's quite presumptive for sure. $100k is 991, M5, E63, and GT-R money. The majority of people who buy those cars new are typically quite comfortable, financially.

Stef - I gleaned it from scatkins' comments. The guy you agreed with a few posts ago. Although I was replying to your post, my negative comments were towards directed him. Not you. Sorry for the confusion.
I'm surprised that so many people think new Corvette quality is so much better than before. I've seen one at the LA Auto Show and the leather cover on the front dash had a flat spot on it; in other words the texture of the leather didn't seem consistent over the same dash panel. The door interior panels were flexing when you pulled from the handle. Now this is the car that they chose to send to the LA Auto Show for people to see the car for the first time. From what I read about the track tests, it looks like they did a great job with the handling of the car and the power of the engine but after seeing the car in person, it is hard to be convinced that the car will stay in one piece after 8 to 10 years. I also think that from the front the car doesn't look much different than a Ferrari but the back looks like it is borrowed from a Camaro. It is almost like the designers started to design from the front and by the time that they reach to the back they didn't have much time left and had to rush some of the look from other Chevys
But again, looks are all subjective and it is hard to judge the car based on just the looks.
Also I know that having a car with 650hp sounds very attractive but most people on this forum wouldn't be able to properly drive a Miata with 100hp on the track so if you think that GT3 doesn't have enough power for you, you are confusing yourself with an F1 pilot. If you only worry about straight line speed, than that has nothing to do with driving talent and you better not waste a GT3 and get a new Corvette.

Ouch. I assume that as a moderator of this forum and as an apparently well-informed individual, you know that the word "moderator" comes from the word "moderate," which means to make less intense or less agitating?
I do know what it means. But wearing kid-gloves with rude and ignorant forum members who blatantly disparage an entire demographic of car owners just isn't my style. But thanks for the input, Al. I do appreciate it.
Is it safe to assume that at 50,100,150,300, and more, a car's performance and cache increases? Customer expectations does consequently and with the Z06 the car is now in a league that it once could not be in as a C6. So now Chevy is trying to add value to the C7 which it deserves but convos like ours will determine if the "market" will allow the C7 to be in the categories that Chevy was targeting. Think about this, if Hyundai came out with a $170K 700hp mid-engine exotic type car would any of us consider it? Even if it was really good? See, that is the challenge that some cars (NSX, Aqus,3000GT, Dodge Stealth,Vector, DeLorean) have to face.

I think I figured it out!!!!!!!
With the C6 ZR-1 I was thinking to myself that the Vette' is now going to be in that "exotic" league but what is "exotic" is Porsche exotic? Depends right? The R8 is not exotic to me but a 458 is? Does being Italian make cars more exotic? Think about it, most people associate exotic cars with being mid engine, low, and foreign. But our cars (Porsche) are rear engined, low and foreign as well. With the C7 Z06 Chevy is kinda forcing us to separate it from the pickup trucks and such that we think about when we say Chevrolet. So will we accept the C7 Z06 as an exotic American car? What about the Saleen S7? With the numbers, tech, and anticipated performance of the new Z06 maybe we HAVE TO change how we look at the Vette brand? What do you guys think?

Why does anyone have to worry about what is exotic? Why not just buy the car that pleases YOU.
I think anyone that worries about what others think have other issues, that won't be solved with trying to justify why their Porsche should be considered exotic.
I said "most"; not "all" so if you think that you can drive, don't get offended by it.
