My first Vette encounter...
My first Vette encounter...
Well, I'm at 800 miles or so now, and today I was at a stop light, yellow CGT on the right (me), white Corvette on the left (them).
I hear some giggling and talking, but I don't bother looking to my left, I pretend I don't care. I tell myself I'm still breaking the car in and I'll take it easy.
Light turns green, I go into first, nothing fancy, and get going. As I accelerate, I hear them right beside me, engine going and they are accelerating and laughing louder.
It's an uphill ramp.
I then think to myself that the road is wide open ahead, I haven't really pushed the car at all yet, so I go for it.
Wow. The loud grunt caught me by surprise. It was a bit louder and gruntier than I was expecting, and my roof panels were on, but nevertheless it sounded very powerful.
What seemed like a good 30 seconds later, they caught up to me. They both waved, gave me a thumbs up, and I went back to 75mph the rest of the way home.
I'm sure they'll think about that sound tonight -- they were driving a convertible, so the blast they heard must of been pretty memorable -- I know it was for me!

I can imagine, i have a strange feeling when I drive the CGT and hit it really hard that the back will start coming out, I don't know why. It just so seems thats the way it will behave, but i have no basis for believing so as I have never driven one. I guess its the look of the car.

The temptation was too much eh? God I wouldnt last 25miles before opening the baby up even if it still was in the break in period.
Those things sound great from the outside, Im sure they are going to be hearing that sound again in their dreams tonight

That's all well and good, until you get beat - then what, you become someone's 'kill story'? "Yellow half million dollar Porsche Carrera GT spanked by my $20k GMC Vette in San Diego".

Vettes costs quite a bit more than 20K anyhow. All they need though is a zo6 with nitrous and fat sticky tires.
Last car show, there was a 10sec zo6...but thats all crap anyway, you shouldnt worry about stuff like that. Just have fun.
Who really cares anyway. A road kill is a road kill. You still have the bigger Kahonies because you are driving a half million dollar car. Damn, I wish I was in the corvette, I probably would still be calling my friends and letting them know i got spanked and spanked good... Thanks for the story, I'm on the hunt for a CGT now just so I can F--K with him so he will open her up and I can hear that sound first hand... Damn, I love these stories.. Good Kill Fayence... Good Kill... Regards, Kenny
Got a big smile reading your story. I have a new 06 997..I was at the dealership the other day, and I saw a Gt take off out of the parking lot onto the street very fast. I know exactly what sound you are speaking of. Un forgettable, let me tell you. No vette, or Beamer, can compare with the sound of Porsche pure speed and glory. One day I want to drive a GT, but all the open spaces are gone in the Bay Area... I need a Bat Cave for parking LOL ENJOY FAYENCE
