Hi all,
I've had my c2s for almost a year and I'm itchin for something new--more specifically a 2015 GT3. My dealer has offered me 3 choices due in over the winter. None have axle lift (or PCCB, another thing I wanted).
My c2s has SPASM now and I've only scraped once (and I knew there was a good chance it was going to happen, but I rolled the dice anyway).
How much lower is the GT3 vs my SPASM c2s?
Is this car a deal breaker w/o lift?
The car will see mostly weekend use and the occasional track day.
Not a lot of city/speed bump action expected.
100% depends on your situation... what city you live in, your home driveway setup, etc.
I had it on my 997.2 GT3 and lived in Newport Beach, which has pristine roads and parking lot ramps. I was 100% glad I got it. Others would disagree and say its not worth it since its an easy replacement of the front lip.
I now live in that armpit of the universe, aka Houston. Its a 100% must here unless you live out in the suburbs. I live in town and the roads are HORRID with parking lot ramps to match. I couldnt imagine not having it here, hence why I got it on my 991 GT3.
I had spasm and PDCC on my 991 2S and I had a 997.2 GT3. They were both low. My .2 GT3 did not have the lift and I scraped the lip often but without damage to bodywork. The front splitter on that car was $200 to replace. I would always have to be careful about ramps etc. I also have scraped the splitter of the 2S. The current GT3 is lower and will be more susceptible to damage.
On my 991 GT3 I opted for the lift for a couple of important reasons:
- the splitter is now mounted in front of the structure of the bumper. Damage to the splitter could also damage the bumper itself and cost $6k to replace!
- the 1.5 inch increase in height is significant on this car. It has already saved me from some stressful maneuvering to get into gas stations etc.
- I am sure resale values will be affected significantly by the addition of the lift.
Is it indispensable? No, but if you have a choice my suggestion would be to get it.
I am super glad I got it and have zero regrets about it.

Agreed…
I struggled with this option as well….for me, in my situation, it came down to my driveway… my RS sits as low, if not lower, than the new 3 and its a complete PIA to get in and out of my driveway….once I'm out I can navigate the roads pretty easily…... so in the end I ordered it due to my driveway.
I didn't order the lift and then went back to add it but my car had locked. On my 997.2 GT3 I had the lift but never used it. Easy in and out of my driveway. Now that I don't have it I'll most likely find a place where I'll need it. Just need to be careful.
I ordered the lift on mine. I prefer to be safe than sorry on crunching the front end when I may need it. I had a lift on my 458 and it saved me a few times in unfamiliar places.
