My New GT3!
It was super easy, just carefully grabbed an edge of the sticker with my nail and peeled back very slowly, piece of cake. I have the leather setbacks though. It may be harder to remove with the painted shell backs...
The steering is amazing in the GT3. The rear wheel steering and handling on this car are superb thus far in the 450 miles I have of seat time. I just think the steering rack feels a little lighter than my 458 Italia was thats all. Its not that I dislike the steering feel it just takes some getting used being it is a little different feel than the Ferrari was. So when I say "light" it is more of a feel I get in my hands on the wheel not the performance. The GT3 is point and shoot, the steering is very direct and responsive, I just wish the steering wheel was a bit stiffer and more solid in my palms if that makes sense…

I'm in the market for either a 458 or a GT3. In leaning towards the GT3 due to it's pedigree and being latest greatest. But the 458 is just so sexy. Any light you can shed on my dilemma would be awesome! It'll be mostly street driven with maybe 1/2 a dozen trips to the road course per year... Drove a GT3 today in Scottsdale and mind=blown

Both the GT3 and the 458 are incredible cars. As you know the 458's are at a considerably higher price point. Its funny though, the 458 and the GT3 feel a lot different but they have very similar performance. I am still breaking my car in so I have not seen 9k rpm in my GT3 yet, I can't wait.
The 458 is a lot more exotic. The sound and experience a 458 gives is really an amazing feeling. The high pitched Ferrari scream is something that is just addicting and downright incredible. I had a F430 for a year and the 458 blew it away in every way with more power, better steering, far better DCT gearbox, and unreal handling. The 458 is a car that to me is just not realistic to own. The Ferrari draws a lot of attention. The Ferrari is mileage sensitive and I worried about parking the car when I could not see the car. Perhaps I was too uptight with the Ferrari. For me, driving a $250,000 car just made me nervous as hell. Insurance was gawd awful expensive as well etc etc. All that being said the 458 is a car I will never forget. I sold mine to stay ahead of depreciation and frankly I got tired of ownership. If any car guys that have ever longed for a Ferrari, or specifically a 458, do it! I had to fulfill that itch but I am back to a Porsche and I feel more "at home" in the Porsche.
Now for the GT3. I simply can't believe the GT3 and what it has become, WOW. I sold the Ferrari to free up some cash and get back to a car I could drive and not worry about so much. If I put 15,000 miles on the car+ in a year or two great, I am not going to even think about it. So I ordered my GT3 and optioned the car nicely in my opinion, LED,s Lifter, PCCB brakes, Carbon Fiber etc, Full Leather etc. I did fear that going from a 458 to a GT3 would be somewhat of a downgrade. Price wise yes, it is, performance wise, no. But I have to tell you the GT3 is a special car. Porsche really nailed this car and it excels in so many areas. The PDK gearbox is superb and shifts ultra quick. It has a different feel than the DCT in the 458 but it is impressive thus far. The steering is very direct and the power of this car is more than I expected. I added the sharkwerks bypass exhaust so the car really starts to sound wonderful over 5k rpm on up. The sound the GT3 makes is a little deeper than the Ferrari but it still creates an exotic snarl that I love. I could go on and on about each car but there are many many reviews by real journalists out there. I just feel that each car is special in its own way. If you are looking for the best bang for the buck the GT3 is very hard to top, I really am impressed with the car. Would I sell the 458 pocket $100,000 in cash and buy the GT3 if I had to do it all over again, you betcha!

All I can say is the GT3 has exceeded my expectations big time. I have had 4 Porsches and 2 Ferraris. The GT3 is the best Porsche have ever owned by a long shot.

So, money aside... If you owned both cars and both were in the garage, which keys do you think you'd grab most often?

On the other hand the Porsche 991 GT3 for the money is a great deal of fun and a very capable car. I think (I must do more research) that the GT3 is quicker around the track than the 458 Italia. I know their was a head to head test with a Speciale and the GT3 was almost right there with it at half the cost.
As I said in my last post I have no regrets. The GT3 is a better car than I could have hoped for and certainly is a current and very popular car at the moment. I think like 6-7 guys that owned 458's made the switch or added a GT3 to the stable from what I see on another forum... The 458 is about to be old news being the M458 T is going to be released this next year. The Porsche has the rear wheel steering, amazing suspension, and plenty of power that revs to 9k which in itself is a blast. I have not been past 7k rpm yet but the extra 2k rpm I am sure will not disappoint!. The GT3 is a street legal track car but has the creature comforts inside to be able to daily drive the car if need be. So back to your question which I would pick? hmm. Well I think I would do the GT3 for these reasons. The car is current. The prices will hold as they only made around 1500 of them for the US for 2014 and 2015 and no GT3's will be produced for 2016 from what I hear. The GT3 has full warranty. The GT3 is a car that is special, looks amazing, and the performance is on par with many other exotics that cost waay more money. Its is your choice, but the GT3 is what will remain in my garage
Honestly the GT3 is on another planet compared to the 997 Turbo. If you make the change you will not be disappointed at all.

What does "steering a little light" mean?
