GT3 v 458 Italia
GT3 v 458 Italia
I'm just wondering how would the GT3 fare against the 458 Italia. They always compare it against the Speciale. I know the TTS would take both to the cleaners. Interesting to see how the GT3 would perform against the Italia. For a starter the GT3 is down by about 100hp & torque is down too as expected a 3,8L flat 6 vs a 4.5L V8.
Cheers mate.

I have owned both cars. I sold my 458 Italia and purchased a GT3.
The 458 feels a bit quicker but is a larger feeling car than the GT3. The DCT gearbox is great, it is hard to beat the Ferrari sound. The quality of Ferrari paint is sub par but the interior finishes are top grade. I loved mine and owned it for 14 months. My warranty was ending and with the new M458 T model arriving soon I wanted to be in a "current" car and frankly was concerned about further drops in values.
The GT3 is simply amazing. The car is so fun to drive and the steering, PDK S gearbox and handling on this car is just incredible. The sound the GT3 makes at 9k rpm is a special sound ( I have the Sharkwerks bypass). The car has rear wheel steering, full warranty, looks nearly as good on the road as a 458 and will hold values extremely well due to limited supply and the car is just hot right now. The GT3 is not as quick feeling as the 458 at full clip. If you keep the revs up in the GT3 it is more capable than what I would ever need for a street car.
458's are about to be old news and the market is getting flooded with them as we speak which =loss in values.
For the money the GT3 is a amazing car and I have no regrets at all

ZZinger: Yes as the new 458 will be turbocharged unveiling in March '15 Geneva Motor Show so they said. You are right in getting rid of the Italia before the 458T is released. I reckon Porsche will have to up the ante with the 991.2 TTS to compete with the 458T. It is rumoured to produce north of 600hp in the 458T & I expect the 991.2 TTS to follow the same. Having said that I'll still go for the 991.2 TTS simply because IMHO is a more robust car. Ferrari is like a temperamental lady & needs lots of TLC. Then again I wonder with so much electronic gizmo loaded on the TTS like PDCC, PAA & so forth I wonder how reliable are there in the long run. Porsche's turbocharged engine is a given as they have been building turbocharged engines for the past 40 years or so. PDK is just as robust & can handle 50 LC consecutively as tested. Do that to a Beemer DCT & see what happens. Yes the Italia is faster car than the GT3 which ever way you look at it but then is also a much cheaper car. Cheers mate!
I hope Porsche responds with a new GT-2 and 7 speed PDK .
700 hp is doable . Both GT-2 and GT-3 will hold better value because far lower sales.
New 458 will be north of 650 HP and more important is TQ will 600 plus.
Love the HP wars , it only leads to better cars for us.

Porsche has a 458 competitor in the pipeline but can't remember what's is called. Porsche's top brass put a hold on it as they want to concentrate on updating existing models like the Panamara, Boxer, Cayman & Cayenne replacement. They have only so much resources at hand & the bottom line is profitability. Under such scenario they have to use the 991 to fight the 458. Up grading the TTS's power is easier & cheaper for them too. So expect the 991.2 TTS to do battle with the 458T next year. Nowadays everyone is jumping on board the turbo bandwagon so Porsche just cannot afford to be out done. Cheers mate!

I honestly if money was not a factor, I would still get a GT3. I have driven my cousins a bunch and I have always wanted a 458. However after recently getting mine, I really think its a better car. Just my opinion. Its the best Porsche ever built so far.
