it's already in the works, base C6's are putting down a conservative 7-800 on relatively low boost from what i've seen.

Makes me wish I had 7 liters of displacement to turbocharge. That Chevy motor also revs to 7000, which is not bad at all for a somewhat archaic design.

Not sure what word you meant to use but that V8 is far from archaic my friend.

I made the comment with a little sarcasm. I just forgot to add the wink. I am very aware of the titanium parts used in the valve train and the extensive lightening process that Chevy went through versus LS2 motor to get the huge 428 cubic inch motor to rev to 7000 rpms.

Don't you find it a little upsetting that we are even discussing the performance of a $68,000 Corvette Z06 versus a $190,000 Porsche GT2........you would think for the extra $120,000 it wouldn't even be a match...For the money the new Carrera S should be able to match the Z06...but I seriously doubt it....We need the new 8 cylinder 3.4 ALMS P2 engine in the base 911.

A buddie of mine picks his up tomorrow. We'll find out first hand what this Chevy is all about. We have Silvers stage II car and the Roock RST 650 car here in town.

I'll let those guys take care of the testing.......I don't want to embarrass him with my 3.......

Save your 3 for the big fish.

The Roock 650 should rock your buddy's Z06.

Do you think a new Z06 is significantly faster than a stock 5 year old GT2?

They really can't be compared anymore than a plastic knife can be compared to a surgical knife. They both perform similalry under certain "test conditions" but one costs 100x more and only a surgeon can appreciate the difference. One is intended for the masses and the other for a very special few. I think there were only a few hundred GT2s made.

I think it says a lot about the Corvette program. The truth is that you are likely to run across them at track events and GT2 owners are probably more likely to track their cars than other Porsche owners. The bottom line is who can lap quickest and most consistently. Everything else is about the badge.

You can complain about interior quality or overall quality right up to the point that you realize that you could campaign 2 ZO6's and still afford a nice tow vehicle and you will with some good driving skilz consistently beat the GT2.

I think the statement that its "still not a Porsche" is pretty hollow and more about egos than anything quantitave.

Sorry guys, but its a Vette and most anybody with a decent job can get one.
Only a few lucky bastards can get GT2 and really live life the way it should.

On a drag strip any jerkwad can probably run a 12
I would be scared to see it hitting the twistes.
Pretty fast.

One thing for certain, the Vette guys aren't the only ones making foolish statements.
