What to choose-996 GT2 or wait for 997 GT3
Planning to add a car to the stable sometime in '06. Help me decide between a 2003 GT2 or a new 997 GT3. I figure they will have similar performance stats and be roughly equivalent in price. I would be using the car for the street as well as occasional track use. Which would you choose and why?
Depends if you want something new or something rare. Turbo/torque or linear/rev power. Looks like from your list you have both now.
The 997 GT3 will be the new thing and be an eveloution of the 996 GT3 and will no doubt have great performance. As a street car it may be a bit better (read more comfortable and safer) than the GT2, as a track car it will likely be easier to drive at its limit. So the GT3 would look like a no loose sure bet.
Then again the GT2 is rare and will remain so, it is a real fun car on the street and has incredible mod potential for extreme performance. It is harder to drive on the track and therefore when you get it right it will be much more rewarding. And you can scare yourself in a straight line on the street, which the GT3 will never do.
The GT3 will not do anything wrong and most things very well while the GT2 will get your respect everytime you sit behind the wheel. Since you already have a nice stable of cars I think the GT2 would be a more interesting add. And yes I do have a GT2 but also have a GT3 Cup so I love both.
No bad decision here, good luck!

Thank you all for the replies. It is a tough decision for sure. Is it possible to upgrade the NA engine of the GT3 for some extra power? Has anyone here successfully done this? If I can squeeze a little more juice out of the GT3 I don't think I would regret the decision later.
