SLR is horrable and not in the same cat as this car
I fully agree with you that the SLR is not in the same category but that's the issue and why the CGT would have a hypothetical chip on it's shoulder becuase only hard core enthusiasts will realize this. The common person will not understand what they are looking at.

Dont like the calipers either, or the purple center lock!
he screwed up the wheel locks though... i dunno if they are different (besides the color) for the pass vs. drivers side, but now that he made all 4 purple, its impossible to tell which is which...

this might be your perception but it's far from the truth.
most people that have experienced both the enzo and the cgt prefer the cgt!
i havent heard anyone bragging about the number of slr's that have been sold.
all i've heard is that mercedes knows they screwed up big time with their projected sales figures.
Like I said in a later post people that know what they are talking about, enthusiasts or people that have personal experience, do indeed prefer and love the cgt. So yes I agree with you on that one, and there have been numorous posts on this board about how many more SLR's have been sold and the average person talks and knows the car more than the beloved CGT. And yes it has been my personal experience at auto show's(NYAS) that people always crowd aroudn the enzo and SLR and the CGT usually only has a slight gathering. Why that is I have no idea.

i wouldnt think "the average person" would even know what an m-b slr is!
m-b's original plan was to sell 3500 units of the car at 677k usd. when they brought it out the price was 452k usd. porsches original plan was 1250 units at around 350k. it ended up selling for around 450k and they decided to curtail production at 1250 units.
right now you can get the slr at about 20-25k more than a cgt. i have no idea what they have decided to do about their production figures.
if they go through with the full 3500 units the cars value would plumment in relation to the cgt.
anyone that would consider the slr successful vs. the cgt is misinformed.

I'd buy the CGT if I had the choice for reliability alone. I can't even imagine what it costs to fix an engine repair in either car...
