SC for a GT3

Has anyone ever installed a supercharger on a GT3 without changing the internals. Good idea...bad idea ?

There is no reason that you could not install an SC on a GT3 engine. Now, for a single install, there would be alot of developement costs.

It ruins the whole concept of owning a GT3, well at least for me it does. I enjoy the N/A engine as is....

I think there was a post by EVO not too long ago where they s/c a gt3 and it was putting out something like 800hp... not sure if they messed with the internals.

The SC on a GT3 is a bad idea. High compression, high reving etc... It's already highly strung. I saw the insane 1K HP 996 GT3 TT conversion at EVO and it's simply NUTS. There are a lot of changes that need to be done that will take time if you choose to go that route. The internals are one big part of the puzzle, the other is the fuel system, charge cooling, piping etc... oh and Tuning:P

That car will be brutal when it's done. It's a very big custom project and expensive so unless you're ok with that I would start searching for forced induction 996 to beging with. I'd go with a GT2. One sold locally for 111K which is crazy.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I had never heard of this conversion and I was more curious than anything. I like the performance of my GT just as it is and its still under warranty.

If you like the GT3 and want to do a few little things, you could do the EP exhaust system and a flash. That will get you a bit of HP.

Don't do that to a GT3 motor, ruins the whole car.

I think the best way to add horsepower would be the Manthey Kit. 440 hp is nothing to sneeze at. I actually thought of SC'ing my Gt3, but was told it would be cost prohibitive. Was told to go get a Gt2. Manthey web site.

If a centrifuge blower is used and the tuning is right, you would have NO difference in the engine's feel, whether straight line or track, but simply an increase in power. Think of it this way..there is a huge difference in power and performance between running you GT3 in 90F weather and 40F weather, but there is no difference in it's drivability or power curve. This effect can easily be duplicated with the proper SC installation in ANY car. Even installing a centrifuge blower with moderate boost and NO change in tuning would provide excellent results.
