Low Boost on GT2
Low Boost on GT2
I have yet to see my stock 2002 GT2 boost over 0.8 bar.
Even running with 100 octane WOT at the track, 0.8 is the highest it boosts. That said the car is still pulls hard.
The car will receive a power makeover soon but I still want to know if this is normal.

Vince,
That is all I saw on my 2003 until I did GIAC mod. Now I see .9 to 1.0 bar pending on gear are RPM. Even at that it still would pull even with my Ruf R turbo (520 hp). Now it blows it away with GIAC controller, Europipe stage II quiet exhaust and Baily's DV's.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was expecting 1 Bar. You are right, the car needs very little boost to get up to 140mph at the track.
How would you describe the power band with GIAC reprogramming?

Just as an FYI all of the 9 GT2s that we did locally in the past few months had the EVO 600 Kit on them and they put down between 520-548 RWHP (mostly dependant upon the exhaust they went with).

dont feel bad, our gt2 never goes above 0.0 unless its really cold outside.. then it gets to 0.1...
there's gotta be something wrong with teh guage because it really pulls hard. I still havent been able to find out whats going on... even champion "thinks its normal for a gt2 to boost at that level."

I haven't done one before with the RuF exhaust but from what I remember it does have relatively decent flow although not the greatest. You should at least get 520rwhp or above!
Vince,
The GIAC power band is great. I have the controller with stock, 91 and race (100 octane). There is a big difference between 91 and race. The car pulls very hard. First time at the track I was really surprised at how much more pull I could get.
I like the Ruf power band a little better, it seemed to be a bit more linear, but you can't beat the GIAC for value. However it is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison because the Ruf had a larger intake and modified turbos that spun up quicker, so it was a bit more responsive and had less lag. However it was $25K versus $8K
Since you have Ruf exhaust I would go ahead and get the controller with the 3 programs, as it is nice to have the race program for the track. It is a mod well worth the money.
I actually run the race program all the time as I can buy 100 octane right by my house and my office off the pump. A few weeks back I went on a trip so I put it back to 91 and I was surprised at the difference, still fast, just not as fast.
