Lost my GT3 lip spoiler...again! Any suggestions?

This is the second time I lost my lip spoiler on my GT3. This time I was doing triple digits and it ripped off, I drove over it, and it flew up in the air behind me and smacked a car...yikes.

It's probably working its way loose over a few scrapes around town, and then on the highway it likes to go its own way...argghh.

Unfortunately, this is the second time, the first time was not quite as dramatic, but this is growing tiresome. The little plastic fasteners to attach the lip the second time seemed better than the original ones (they looked more like phillips head screws), but didn't help much.

So here are a few questions:

1.) Are there any better after-market alternatives?
2.) Is there anyone selling the OEM lip spoilers online?
3.) Any other suggestions (besides driving slower) ?

This is for a 2004 GT3. Thanks!

the screw type fasteners are better than the push pins...more important is tape over the leading edge to keep air from removing the lip in the first place...some guys on the "other" forum have used plastic ties in a few holes instead of pins or screws to make sure it doesn't come off...good luck

I check mine every week at least, I push them back in if the are loose.
Also on my cup spoiler I used the double sided tape, but still..these things are made to break loose and not damage your bumper.

Vader13 - How does the cup spoiler differ? Will that fit on standard GT3? If I'm going to buy a third spoiler, I'd like to try something different (not necessarily more practical ). Any examples, pictures, and sources of different types of lip spoilers is appreciated.

VSE Chuck - Any special tape recommended? Helicopter tape, duct tape ?

The cup spoiler is cheaper, about $110~ and is a bit longer and slightly bigger.

No special tape is required, racers or helicopter is fine, the purpose is not to absorb anything, just to keep airflow from affecting it.

Anyone have comparison pics of the cup spoiler vs. the standard spoiler? Can I get the cup spoiler from the local porsche dealer, or can I get it from someone online?

Thanks guys.

Here is my car w/the cup spoiler you can tell it's a bit more agressive than stock.

What a looker!

Vader,

Would you say the cup lip hangs lower than the OEM lip? Already scraping driveways...
P.S. Your GT3, is hot looking! Great job with the clean CF mods.

I just need the RS bumper now..
Yes it hangs lower than the stock lip and my car is lowered a 1/2 inch from stock front 1/4 rear.
Yes it scrapes if you drive like a noob to lowered cars. People can wait as I 5 point turn over speed bumps and parking exits. I had to go out one backwards through the entry one time..lmao
Seems its about 3 inches off the ground, but it handles and feels waaaaaay better than it did stock.

On the cub car we ran (Butch's car), tried everything from stock push pins, screws, bolts, zip ties.....Comes down to this: If you are doing a bunch of high speed stuff its going to come off...If you scrape on driveways a lot, it is going to come off.... NO MATTER WHAT. If fastened really well it just comes off in pieces. They are pretty cheap, I say pick up a couple spares and some fasteners and check often.

I will try a solid strip of DOUBLE side tape ( red type gray sponge ) and then the push pins. All cup cars secure it this way. I have not had any problems loosing mine ( unles i go off the track ) but have done over 15 DE these year along TWS with speeds of 160 MPH on the bank and the spoiler still there.
