Charging the CGT with the cigarette lighter

My CGT came with a CD holder in the glove box as an option. Handy, I suppose. The only problem is, when I plug in the supplied charger to the cigarette lighter, the CD holder obstructs me from being able to close the glove box to shut off the light.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Is there some type of trick or did Porsche not think that option out?
Help

Josh,

My car didn't come with such a thing and I can't find it listed in the 2005 model year USA-version official order guide.

What does it look like?

The battery conditioner works fine in my car and allows the glove box door to close.

It is similar to the CD holder that comes in the 996s, but sits by itself in the glove box.
I'll take a picture later tonight. It is listed on the sticker as CD Holder Leather.

Cool. See if you can find out if it had an official Porsche option code.

I'd love to see a pic of the window sticker area where it is listed.

Here is one of the sticker listing the CD storage box. Pretty pricey for a $20 part you can buy at an auto parts store. Maybe its so expensive due to the rich corinthian leather wrapped around it, lol.

Josh,

Many thanks for the pix.

That's amazing. It's always interesting to see options that did NOT appear on the order guide subsequently delivered to a customer.

The reason I asked to see the window sticker was my curiosity about whether this was a truly factory supplied option or something the dealer took upon himself to supply independently. I suppose the dealer can re-print window stickers if the need arises, but this sure looks authentic!

Enjoy your beautiful and exciting car in good health!

It appears I am the only one with that option out there. I tried removing it, but its attached pretty well.
I need to think of an alternative for charging the car.

Hey Josh,

No worries. Leave it open. The light will turn off automatically. Leipzig says it's OK. I did Euro delivery with my friend for his CGT and he has the same option as you. Direct from Leipzig, they say no problem charging the car with the glove box open. For further confirmation...let me talk to my friend. He has had his CGT for 8 months and rarely drives it. Tells me it's on the charger all the time. Let me make sure he hasn't had a single problem. I'll post on the board once I speak to him.

Cheers,
-Nick
