Angry Airleaks BBS Racing Wheels

I just installed on my GT2 a brand new set of BBS Racing wheels with Alu center (bought from Carnewal) and MPS2. Both of my front ones loses about 20 psi of air in one week. Inflated again and the same thing happen. Both tires and wheels are brand new with 0 miles. Does anyone have any idea why?

The only things I can think of are a poor bead seal or the valve stem is leaking. Have you checked for punctures or a leak @ the bead/stem?

Smoltz is infamous around these parts
The most probable cause for the leak is a valve stem issue. With that being said, I would just take it back to who put them on and have them take a look.

If you would like to do your own investigative work though. Mix some dish soap and water and spray it on the valve stem area, and you should be able to see bubbles where there is an air leak.

Good Luck,
Adam

Vince,

When I installed mine I was losing air as well...
I had to disassemble 2 of the wheels completely and re seal them when they had 50 miles on them
BBS applies only a very thin coat of sealer to these wheels!!!

even though I used the best installer in town, two of mine had bad leaks. The wheels come with metal stems but they are not tight and my installer didn't check them (I should have checked them myself but didn't in my excitement)...tightened the stems and they still leaked....took the leakers back and they remounted the tires and no leaks...MPS2 have small ribs that are right at the bead...I think they just put on some sealer around the bead...anyway...no leaks...btw...if they remount the tires make sure they remove the balance weights and re-balance...or you will end up with a bunch of weights (kind of defeats the purpose of light-weight wheels)...in the dunk tank my BBS seams had no leaks....good luck..

mine were leaking all around the center bolt holes...tried to just add sealer to the bolts and re torque but still leaked thus requiring disassembly

Submerge the tire and wheel assembly in a swimming pool and look for bubbles. I had to seal the center joint with silicone gasket sealer on the on BBS mag center wheels I ran years ago.

Ron maybe correct. I rememberd my wheel guy did tell me that BBS applies only a very thin coat of sealer to these wheels and leaks are common. We'll find out for sure when I bring in the wheels next week.

My wheel's, 2 front's were deflating also within a few days! Had to be pulled apart and resealed, no problems now!
