Assuming with an ecu upgrade plus exhaust your looking at 10-15hp minimum.

Very expensive HP, at least $1000 per HP

If you need new injectors (Porsche Motorsport), then plan on adding more...

Getting more HP from a N/A platform is expensive. I spent 7K to get 50hp from my G35. However, she is an incredibly sweet DD.

Once RS Tuning and Manthey Racing get their kits built and tested by the spring, I am sure we will find out what works and what doesn't

I have a feeling that Porsche has already squeezed as much hp out of that 3.6 as possible without sacrifacing engine life. Sure, you can tune any motor you want to get more power out of it, but you will be destroying the motor and drastically reducing it's opertaing life.
Just adding a new chip/tuning and exhaust works for most cars that are already DE-TUNED from the factory. The 997RS is anything BUT, de-tuned...
And furthermore, anyone looking for more power/performance out of a 997RS will most likely be looking at a cup car.

i agree with you. when engines are this tuned, its hard to make extra hp. maybe talk to someone who has modded a 360 CS and see how much hp they got out of it. if you really want to kick up the performance of the 997GT3 more(as if you needed tooo, LOL), try doing weight reductions. dymag carbon fibre and magnesium wheels, GT3 seats, etc. those weight savings will be your best best because 10 hp you will not likely feel, but saving 100 lbs and up you will feel and will work best. the engine in the car is one of the best every designed and built and the exahsut note stock is as well. why mess with the amazing set up from the factory for a few measly hp. reduce the weight and you will not only have a car that is faster but more nimble than it already is.

unless the rods and heads are designed differently (better flowing heads, ported etc..) all this really accomplishes is weight reduction...and at a VERY steep price for titanium bits like that (motor rebuild for the rods, too).
As previously stated, pulling weight OUT OF THE CAR is the best, most cost effective way to gain performance in what is already a very, very high performance car. Personally, I seriously doubt 90% of the people buying these cars have the talent/ability to drive them anywhere neat the limit without killing themselves or having to wear a diaper.

I guess you could always supercharge it. Throw enough money at RUF and I bet they can make it work.

How about, a 1 off GT3RS BiTurbo? Transplant a Turbo mill into the gt3. 800hp, 2800lbs, RWD. Sounds good.

why would you want more hp ? I bet 99% of the people who have one cannot even drive it at the limit safely with the existing hp on the track....if street or drag strip hp is your concern, buy a turbo and chip it...

Porsche could get more power out of all of their NA motors, if they would emply direct injection.

Direct injection takes into consideration the current position of each piston while firing (since at anyone point in time each piston would be in a unique stroke position) and calculates and injects the EXACT amount of fuel each cylinder requires to give the most efficient "bang". Currently the GT3 and all of Porsche's models do not have this system, instead they have a system that Average's the amount of fuel required for all six cylinders, so some get more, some get less. Inefficient = less power.

The GT3RSR DOES have mechanical direct injection and it makes 485 with restrictors, but since this 3.6L block is so old, probably electronic direct injection is not an option for it anymore.

All of the highpowered diesel motors that BMW, MERC and Audi are coming out with use direct injection.

They do know what's up...I don't think they have one motor in their line up that's been designed AFTER 2000. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I doubt they designed any of their current motors with DI in mind.
