Speedometer accuracy

I had my VBox GPS on my car (997 GT3) recently, and while driving at normal speeds, i noticed that the speedo was consistently over-reading by between 6-10kph versus the VBox.

Now I realize most cars' stock speedos are on the optimistic side. However, I thought that Porsche were more accurate than other cars, and that the inaccuracy showed up more at higher speeds.

Anyone else observe this? Or is my car just out of whack?

(oh, and the VBox is brand new and based on the calibration certificate, its pretty accurate)

I know my spedo is constantly faster then my GPS readout. Its accurate to around 70. At around 90 its off by a few mph and by 117 the spedo reads 125. It seems in every car I am in the spedo is always faster then the GPS.

i say its a good thing... at least its not under reading... now that would suck... get pulled over even you want to drive speed limit...

I asked my dealer the same question. They tell me that 2-5mph is normal. Its within the spec range.

You can recalibrate the speedo with a PST2 if you want it spot on, I agree though, a little over is a good thing!
