GT2 w/ GT700 kit or 997 GT3?

Hey guys,

I have the opportunity to pick up a 997 GT3 w/PCCBs this Spring, but would have to sell my 2002 GT2. My GT2 has an Evo stage 4 package and 2004 wheels and CF.

Should I sell the GT2 and get a new 997 GT3 or should I spend the $20k upgrading to the GT700 and minor suspension tweeks?

I posted this on the 996tt/GT2 forum and wanted to get the opinion of the GT3 gang to see how you guys feel about dilemma.

The car is primarily used for aggressive street use with maybe 4 HPDEs a year.

Thanks
George

If you feel the need to upgrade your GT2 to higher HP a GT3 will not make you happy. I went from a GT2 to a GT3 but for different reasons. I am very happy with the GT3 and would not go back to a GT2. The GT2 is more of a Porsche Muscle car and the GT3 a street legal track car.

That's a tough choice but I would really try and drive a 997GT3 first to help make the right decision for you. I think if you use the car mostly on the street and are going to a 700 you'll obviously enjoy the torque and power that brings. The new 3 is a high revving track star but it's heavier than you 2 and obviously doesn't have the same grunt.

You dont feel the GT2 with motons handles even better then a GT3??? (996 or 997) Just wondering your impressions, because my car handles way better IMO from test drive to test drive than the GT3 and has the power of a beast!

Just wondering what you thought, most people dont compare the GT2 to GT3 handling wise, meanwhile they are damn similar!

IF YOU SELL YOUR GT2 FOR ANYTHING ELSE BESIDES ANOTHER GT2 YOU WILL BE THE SADDEST MAN IN THE WORLD.

Dont do it. There is no Porsche other than the Carrera GT to replace that car with.

I'll Buy the GT2

If you sell your GT2, I would be interested in seeing the specs, price, etc...I am looking for the perfect (for me) GT2.

If its for street I'd go with the GT2. I assume you live in the US where most roads are streight. I dont know about the gt700 reliability but I would defenitly go with a high HP GT2 over a GT3 even though it may be more communicative and refined over the 996 series. I've ener been and any GT3 but I've read comparisons from this forum so Im not talking out of my ***.

Have you thought about going from the 997GT3 to the 997GT2? That would be logical. But if you were going to skip the 997GT2 alltogether I'd stick with the 996GT2 and do that gt700 conv.
