18 or 19 inch wheels for 997GT3 track day tires?
SubscribeWhat are you ordering for as a second set for steel brake cars for D.E's etc. Seems like more tire choices for 18's. Anyone used Complete Custom Wheels. They have only done 18's for GT3's so far.

The question was about the wheels not the tire. I have used up one set mpsc in 3000 miles so I am going to put ps2's on the stock wheels and get a second set of wheels for track use only. Any benafit of 18 vs. 19 for track use. Anyone used the above wheel make.Originally Posted by AzGT3

First you pick the tires, then the wheel. I have heard good things about CCW but I don't think they do justice to a 997 GT3. I would go 18" BBS and I did.Originally Posted by AzGT3

Why 18's (for which tire) and which BBS. Where did you get the BBS"s I have the same thought about ccw's but they cost less and I do not see them when I am at the track. Do you have a photo of the car with the BBS wheels.Originally Posted by grussell

305/30/18 diameter is too small. You will have ABS issues due to the difference in diameter. You need a 305/35/18Originally Posted by eclou

No. The ratio of front to rear diameter of 245/305 in 18" is within 1% of the ratio of 235/305 in 19". I have had absolutely no issues with PSM or ABS whatsoeverOriginally Posted by grussell

245/30/18 = 24.7"
315/30/18 = 25.6"
They do not list a 305. Do you have the specs?
Stock MPSC:
235/35/19 = 25.5"
305/30/19 = 26.3"
the 305/30/18 is also 25.6" in diameter, it is not listed b/c it is only sold as the VRL (Viper Racing League) tire.
24.8/25.6 = .968 ratio front to rear
25.5/26.3 = .969 ratio front to rear
As you can see, the difference is about 0.1%. All electronics nannies work great. I have run 3 track weekends like this, no warning lights, no squirrely behavior whatsoever.
