The 997 looks a lot smaller/lower in that pic. Other than the headlights I agree that the 997 gt3 looks better IMO. I still like the 996 overall weight/power/rawness, but in the looks department inside and out the 997 gt3 is a step-up.

Your right Heavy Chevy, the 997 sits so much lower. I just can't get over the weight gain the 997 put on over the 996.

That's my problem with it too. Could you imagine this car without the PSM or ABS (whiatever it was they added) and at the same weight as the 996 GT3? It would be unstopable, to think they added 200lbs and only 30 hp and still made the car faster, I would have taken that car over just about anything, well, except a CGT.

both GT3 has ABS
neither GT3 has PSM

997 Gt3

The largest difference is that the 997 GT3 is very very street worthy and comfortable. With an aggressive track set up, maybe not. But out of the box, for me, this is hands down the most comfortable Porsche that I have ever driven. Very pure, raw, and yet civilized when necessary. Also, some low down torque which makes it very good for low speeds around town.

I guess in some ways that is the dilema, Porsche decided to cater to the more civilized drivers who purchase GT3's for cruising and limited spirited driving instead of the hardcore track guys. You cant please al of the people all of the time, but it was a nice try though.

If only the 997 offered more ground clearance at the front...
