997 GT3 Rear License Plate

Anybody have difficulty mounting their rear license plate? Mine came without any plastic housing to mount the rear plate. Is this normal or just a missing part? Also, seems like the vertical space is very tight. I noticed paint worn away from the vibration of the plate rubbing against the lower portion of the bumper. It seems that license plate frames don't fit very well either.

During a new PDI, everyone at the dealer I work at including myself will get the plate bracket from the parts dept. and put it on, seems like 987's come with them 997's do not, for the most part.

I had the same problem. Part #997-701-113-00-01C takes care of the problem. Also get two tap screws - Part #999-919-228-A2. It should cost you less than $25.00.

I still have the screw set that came with the front bracket which I have not mounted. Are the tap screws the shorter of the screws(there are long ones and short ones with slightly larger heads) with the pointed ends or are they blunt ended. I don't want to install the incorrect screws and damage the car using the wrong parts.

They are the longer ones (size 5x28) with the pointed ends.

Mine was delivered without one, too.

I got the bracket. Do I need to predrill small holes with a drill bit prior to screwing in the tap screws?
