After having had a deposit on a 997 for 3 years, I got to pick up my new car today. All I can say is wow. The looks, the SOUND, the handling. Light years ahead of my '98 993. Hard to believe they are related.

Tried to post some pics, but got this when I tried 'There seems to have been a problem with the 6speedonline.com Forums database". I reduced the pic size to 640x422 in JPEG format. Is that right? Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong.

A quick list of specs:

Black exterior
Black interior
PCCBs
Full leather with yellow deviated stitching (looks sooo good)
Yellow seat belts
Xenons
Upgraded stereo (kept turning it off to hear the exhaust)
Fire Extinguisher
Black wheels (actually, just the spokes are painted. Looks great)
PCM (wrestled over that one)

Psyched to be a GT3 owner. Can't wait to get through break in. Z

Wow, does it really take that long to special order one from a dealer? I'm possibly looking to pick up a GT3 in the next 2-3 years. Should I put myself on a waiting list now?

 

It doesn't ordinarily take that long to order one. It is just that I put in the order two years before the car was ever announced. I believe they started delivering the cars late last year / early this year. At this point, regardless of the time involved, it sounds like getting one at all is getting quite tough.

Here is the only pic that I could take yesterday. The car was in the delivery area. It started to absolutely pour in Atlanta right when I was taking delivery. Once it slowed down I left and then went out to dinner. Too dark when I got home. I'll try to get some interior pics later today or tomorrow.

I can tell you that the wait is well worth it. While I haven't been able to drive it much yet, it is a true visceral experience.

What color are you getting? I wanted orange, but they are keeping that for the RS. I hadn't seen one in black, but I think it looks great.
