Just to clarify
Guys,
I’ve taken every single one of our 2008 GT3rs orders and have put them in chronological order. Without going into details, because of privacy issues, of our 11 deposits, Rich was not in the top 5. Our 1st deposit was given to us almost a year prior to the deposit we got from Rich in January of 2007. At the time of these deposits, we were not given a concrete number as to what our allocation for RS’s would be.
The first customer, who has bought several cars from us, placed a deposit and is picking up his 08 GT3 RS at MSRP.
The policy for Manhattan Motor Cars is very simple. WE DO NOT CHARGE A PREMIUM ON ANY cars that we order for a customer.
Rich unfortunately was never given an opportunity to spec out his car, because we only had one allocation which was already spoken for long before a deposit was given to us by Rich.
The orange GT3 RS that we have acquired was actively purchased by us to meet market demands.
I will not go into anymore details regarding Rich and his GT3 RS deposit because of privacy issues.
Also, it seems that some of the members have been upset because of some of the cars that I have offered on 6speed because of the Market Price being above MSRP.
I’m sorry if I have insulted you, and will no longer allow myself to post any car we have above MSRP.
I hope we can move on from this. Happy motoring.

Thank you, but with all due respect, i was welcomed 2 years ago.
I've earned my respect here, and I don't plan on losing it, especially over this.
There's a reason why I post all cars on here and it's not because i'm the best salesperson, it's because members on here know me on a personal level.
We go out to events, charity runs, and even on a social level.
I've never been called a "typical salesperson", i don't make my living by cheating people or lying to people.

I'm not going to speculate on what would have been the right thing to do from a business/moral standpoint, but the whole way this situation was handled, or rather mishandled, over the internet speaks volumes about MMC (and I'm not speaking about you Steve, since you seem to have been caught out in a matter you had no knowledge of).
This I am very glad to see.
I have bought a few cars directly through the owner of this dealership long before we even had a 6speedonline and I was always treated with respect and the service dept was always top notch for anything I needed for example; i went to "other" dealers that were closer to me at the time to service my x50 TT that had a 2nd gear pop out issue and they all gave me the song and dance about replacing the tranny. I brought it back to MMC and w/in a few days I had my car back with a brand new tranny no questions asked. That's just one of many examples.
Steve my only advice is hold off on posting the "over msrp" cars LOL

Steve nice post and here are some suggestions:
1) Devise a marketing plan because I think you came gun ho without a plan. If you had a plan things would have been easier. If you are going to be the person representing manhattan be ready for some bitterness at times and think problems through before responding.
2) Look at how other vendors act on this site example Lucent, Sharkwerks, etc. in how they conduct their day to day threads and posts. Be careful about starting very stupid threads.
These are just some thoughts and I want to personally appologize for being harsh at times and I too will try to be considerate.
Aloha

Steve,
Can I ask this question so that I have a better understanding of the situation? MMC had or got no allocations of the 07 GT3RS? If this is so, keep your head up and good luck with any other sales.

We are one of the largest dealerships in the country.
We have an excellent relationship with PCNA
Most dealerships are not getting an RS. MMC had 1 allocation. It was filled. Unfortunately, like many dealers, we did not expect just 1 allocation for the entire 2008 MY.

Steve,
No need to clarify anything.
As an employee of the Dealership you have no say, and therefore no ability to make, or keep, promises. That, however, didn't stop you speaking and representing the Dealership.
If you have some formal documentation from MMC that you are entitled to represent or bind them in particular transactions, post it here. I assume that they believe you to be responsible and capable... but everyone has their limts of authority so it is good to check and document those limits. If you don't have that authority then don't continue to represent that you speak for them. What exactly then, does MMC offer the members and why is it a sponsor (other than trolling for customers)?
Board Owners (Conflict of interest?) may get a good deal from MMC (and other Sponsors becuase of the weight of influence they may may be able to bear..but apparently regular Joes don't qualify for the same treatment.
Shouldn't Board owners (and Admins) disclose their special deals to the members?, especially if they value objectivity.
As always, Caveat Emptor!
