Dymag questions
Dymag questions
From what specs I've read, dymags are the lightest rims available. Even assuming a complete forged metal rim of the same weight, is it safe to assume that the dymag will perform better? I speculate this may be true as the carbon outer section is likely lighter than a metal one. Therefore, less rotating weight at the periphery.
Also, what are the real world experiences with dymags so far (ie not track)?

Talk to the people at GMG regarding the Dymag CF wheels. This company is no new comer and they know the wheel technology. There is a lot of R&D behind these wheels. Then you just have to get your hand on one of these wheels. You pick up the 19x9 wheel like you pick up a six pack. It is astounding. From my research it is a sound product.

I agree with your observation GTS-R. I can't wait to get my set. Oh BTW just a mention to members of the forum who maybe interested, I'm selling my original GT3 wing/decklid. Any interest just send me a PM.

But I still do not understand the reason(s) against daily driving ? Can you explain because I really want to know. What are specifics that would make the Dymag wheel a liability for the street. I percieved no negative while GMG praised the wheel. Honestly I'd like to know.
I've raced at many tracks in this country, none more harsh on the tires and suspension than Sebring and Summit Point. Worse than most streets and as you drive in the street be watchful of potholes. This can not be the primary reason why they are not acceptable for street use.
They are incredible wheels, and fine for daily driving. Great impact and deformation stats too. A pothole can claim any wheel, but I guess the only drawback to using Dymags for DD is that you would be even a little more sad if you crunched one of these. But I think they are fine for daily use.
And they are one of the few performance products you can put on your car and feel an immediate, seat-of-the-pants difference. I love my blingy 20" TechArts too, but the Dymag 19" wheel / tire combo is 52 lbs. lighter than the TechArts with tires. That's a lot of rotating weight going buh-bye.
