Looking at 2006 Gallardo SE - things to watch out for
Hi,
I drive a modded 996TT now but recently I'm thinking of adding a real exotic car to the stable
Looking at a 2006 Gallardo SE, 20k mile, e-gear at the moment. I'm new to Lambos (except for their look and sound
) so I'm wondering if you guys help me with a list of things to watch out for in checking out the car?
Thanks.
Ron

70-80K?? I'm pretty sure last I checked, a decent 04-05 would still be in low 90s...
He is in a different continent so price is therefore academic. But for us here in USA I am always interested in the prices people say we should pay. I have not seen good cars near the prices noted above.
I think people talk down the price to what they would like to pay hoping the market will drop to that level ultimately making us all think that the real world prices are too expensive.

Actually the price is pretty decent IMO (at least for a Japan price). I'm more worried about if there is any particular issues/weakness with a 06 G SE ?

20k miles seem kinda high. How much are they asking for it? I would say 70-80 would be fair... depending on history and condition of course
are you crazy....do you have any idea what the things are going for? try 115-125 with 10-20K miles....
i am always amazed at the silly posts on 6speed....
if you dont KNOW...just dont say anything...
as far as the 6 speed gated....im not 100% sure but im 99.9999% sure that they only were shipped to the US as an e-gear. since its an 06 all the clutch issues are long gone.
for the OP....nothing special to look for on the se than any other 06...
I have a 6 speed SE, but I've never seen another
In any case, all the SEs are sweet. I haven't driven the E Gear SE, but it was pretty slick in an Superlegerra I drove. If you search on E Gear you'll plenty of info on the upgrades for '06, much stronger, should be fine.
Looked at the car very carefully, interior in pretty bad shape, no maintenance record before 15k mile (so I don't even know if clutch work has been done - though dealer claim 70% left on the clutch), steering wheel all messed (owner must have sweaty hands) and interior stinks of cigarette.
Verdict: I passed

Back on topic, 20k miles is not a lot as long as it checks out.
The Gallardos are bullet-proof. I drove mine for over 20K miles with virtually no problems. The '06 E-gear is an improvement over the 04-05 E-gear. I also had an '04 6 speed for a short while and really liked it. The only problem with the '04 that I had was a lack of a front lift.
if the dealer you are getting the car from is good then the car would be good. you don't have to worry about buying a **** box.
a few G owners went to bad dealers in the US and got screwed.
make sure that the car you are looking at has the most updated software.
