Project Esprit has arrived

Arrived at SP Engineering today. Now we can see what kind of power she can hold. From the research ive done, i havent been able to find a baseline dyno number. I have gotten the following with 2 different factory ECU mods though, one called the HIgh Torque Ecu, made 339rwhp, the other called the race ECU made 355rwhp, with no other mods. The Highest real dyno numbers ive seen for one, are just under 500rwhp, with the tranny still in tact.

No secret. Its sort of experimentation though. First we will do an Ecu change and add a boost controller. That will raise boost from a limit of 5lbs in the first 3 gears, to 15lbs. Then we will add blow off valves, full exhaust, turbos, intercoolers, tranny cooler, and maybe nitrous, plus some other nick nacks.

SP Engineering is da bomb. They did my project M5, and really did some fine work. Kudos to Alex and the crew.

Beef up the tranny before you do anything....Derek Bell in England makes a UN1 upgrade kit with straight cut first gear and stronger internals.

I plan on doing this soon.

I have done the race ecu, BOV's, exhaust, and air filter. Engine can easily make 550hp, the tranny is the weak link and should not be pushed beyond 450hp without mods.

Nice looking car....

Im actually going to leave the tranny stock. Ive spoken to people, who have informed me that the stock tranny will last, if you dont drag race or powershift it. For exapmple the guy with the 500rwhp car, has an unmodified tranny in his car for 2 years. All i will add is a tranny cooler. I looked into the cost of the Derek Bell unit, but imo, the cost is not worth it. We've decided that if the tranny grenades, i will replace the entire unit with a Porsche unit, and then go crazy on the motor.

Nice Allan. I have always had a thing for these cars, I was looking into them before I got the porsche. I saw one in magnolia, looked gorgeous. Too bad I could not find anyone to let me take one for a drive.

How does it ride/perform?
