Depends.
GT will be one of those cars that will probably hit an inflection point and then begin to appreciate in value once it hits collector age.
It will also be much rarer than the Avie once Avie production run gets into full swing.

Ford GT no doubt...the Lambo is nice...but at the end of the day it's just another Lambo (at a crazy money price). Have you considered the new McLaren?

All this talk about resale... Is that why you buy an exotic?

Exotic ownership is an experience, not an investment.

I agree. Personally I would go with the lambo.. everything about it is just breath taking. I've always been a sucker for lambo's though!

They are equal on looks, both are amazing one-of-a-kind masterpieces. 2 of the lowest , widest cars on the road. Can't go wrong there.

The Ford GT's weak spot is the engine, really not special. A supercharger slapped on their V8, which is now 100hp down on the new GT500. If it had a unique engine like a 427SO, I would say keep it, but it doesn't. The lambo on the other hand has a very impressive and unique powerplant. Add in all the other features on the inside and there you have the winner.

I was fortunate enough to examine 2 new Ford GT's in the showroom of a small dealership a couple miles from my home when they were selling. Nice memory. So odd to see them there.

Here is the video to watch on the Aventador, it shows EVERYTHING, the electronic creature features are something.

The MkII had the 427SO. Yes they were "rare" ,however, did appear is some production vehicles.

The MkI and street or road GT40 were powered by the 289 Hi Po. A more fungible powerplant and more common place.

The FGT powerplant is not "common" ala' the GT500. It is a modified aluminum block (not exactly the same as the previous GT500 or current GT500 aluminum block) and has a dry sump.

While the Lambo engine is clearly more hi tech and uncommon it is part of a Lambo that will likely be mass produced. The FGT engine is still part of a car that goes like stink, is gorgeous with classic looks and is rare.

While buying an exotic is an experience not an investment, if you can get both with the right car then why not. The amount spent and depreciation is always part of the calculus for most and rightlhy so.

I am still drooling for an Aventadore though!

You obviously don't know Ford GT's well. You realize you can put a Whipple on the bone stock motor and get 800 rwhp (you can add twin turbos as well to a bone stock motor and get 1000 rwhp)? Exotic the engine is not.......built very strong it is.

For me, the FGT's "unexotic" power plant is a major plus. It's basically a Ford Lightning engine wrapped in a very sexy body. From a long-term maintenance perspective, it'll cost Ford (truck) money to service vs. Lambo bucks. God bless the U.S.A. hahahahaha

I love my 993TT, but $300 hoses? Crazy

Keep your sighs to yourself

Nope. Haven't driven one yet since I've been too busy straddling houses in different countries. But the FGT engine, by Ford's own admission, was largely sourced from the Lightning. So that fact is irrefutable. If your sigh is suggesting that the engine is either expensive to maintain or overly complex I am, however, all ears as this might change my interest in adding a FGT to my collection down the road.

Didn't know diddly about the 993TT before buying one either, and purchased a rare beauty. Nothing a little research can overcome

There were 2 cars that I had posters of on my wall as a kid and built every model of I could get my hands on: The Countach and the GT-40.

A few decades later, during the rare event when I see a Countach in person I enjoy it for what it was in my mind as automotive art but it looks very dated in person and the newer Lamborghini flagships impress more with each generation but I wonder how they will look in 25 years. When I see a GT-40 or GT, it feels a bit more timeless to me and the curves just don't age. Obviously this is a matter of opinion and many may not keep the car for 25 years.

A wise man during a C&C pontificated that it's all about the curves, not the angles.... when it comes to both women and cars.

Would I turn my back to either... NO

Not an expert at all, but know more than you may give me credit for.

I have spent a lot of time on Fordgtforum.com reading threads over the past few years, like I have spent time on many other forums of cars that interest me.

I have read the threads that show these engines taken apart and read the details like the stronger parts involved and how guys screw with them to make more power. So I know a lot of info, enough to stand by my statement that the 5.4 V8 in the GT is IMO nothing special in the scheme of things at Ford, yet very capable.

I have never liked supercharged or turbocharged passenger cars. Don't care about ridiculous HP numbers as they are useless in the real world. And I do know more than the average car enthusiast about engines. I have removed mine from my car and serviced it. I have also bought a rare spare for my vehicle and have taken the engine apart.

Here is not the exact video but close enough for what I consider a special engine from Ford

I was going to mention a thread I remember on the GTforum about a trip that a group took from near Vancouver down into the US along the Rockies. It had some of the best car photo's I have ever seen.
