Black burns better than red!

We got the car in November 2004, and less than two hours later, the brakes failed. My husband had to avoid a van sitting at the bottom of a hill. He was only going about 80, and the van was signaling to turn left, so my husband braked to slow down, and the brakes did not catch. He had to steer into the ditch to avoid the van, the oncoming motorcycles on the left, and a pipe sticking up 3 feet on the right side. He watched the car slowly burn for 45 minutes before the fire truck got there.
Thank Goodness no one was hurt badly. My husband had a broken rib, and his passenger bit his lip.
The fire was caused by sparks from the asphault scraping the undercarriage, which ignited the dry brush along the side of the road.
You probably saw the picture on Ebay.

I was driving an old Ferrari (my first), that I had completely restored and made significant upgrades to, out in the country one afternoon. Engine was just back in, and fuel line must have had a small leak. Gas apparently pooled on top of engine until exhaust ignited it. I had about 30 seconds to pull over and get out of the car. Then I sat by the side of the road for about half an hour and just watched it burn to the ground while I waited for the volunteer fire department to arrive. Kinda makes you sick . . .
