opening a dealership?
opening a dealership?
i know this is probably far fetched, but hey its always worth the effort to find out. My father and i have recently purchased a piece of prime real estate over looking the 101 frwy in so cal. Approximately 250,000 cars drive by the particular piece of land per day. It is the highest point over looking the frwy and definitely the most visible. We were talking about how we need a Lambo dealership out here as there is a lot of money and the closest dealerships are OC and Beverly Hills. So basically we are doing our Due Diligence on how to go about opening a dealership? Does anybody have any experience in opening or attempting to open a dealership? Who should i contact? Any help at all would be much appreciated.
You could though open up a private dealership and carry all the exotics not just lambo. Get a nice inventory of everything and you will have nice business for yourselves. Will take quite a bit of start up $$$ though......

If you think it makes business sense then do it... Don't ask anyone's opinion because the truth is that all of these people don't know, they are guessing as well...
So a similar story would be that I am in Coral Gables down in SoFL... The Collection is huge down here, they carry Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lotus, Audi, Porsche, etc... If what everyone is telling you here would be the case, then opening up an exotic dealership across the street would be stupid, right?? WRONG... There are two dealers within a block of the Collection - Gables Sportscars and Formula One Sportscars... BOTH are doing very, very well by the way because they are friendly and get overflow business from the Collection (which are the cockiest sons of *****es you can imagine) and they price their cars agressively...
If it makes business sense, then do it... If you were Des Moines, Iowa, then I would tell you that maybe 1 is enough.. Places like SoCal and Miami have so much business that they can sustain multiple dealerships...
GO for it!
Good luck...

Do you have any experience in the auto business? If not, you have no chance. All auto manufacturers (imported, not sure about domestic) require X amount of years in the business in: Sales, Finance, AND Management. Plus, on top of that there are usually VERY long wait lists to even buy the name. If you have any more questions feel free to PM or email me (sbenanti@gmail.com) and I'll try to help ya out as much as I can.

Thank you all for your input. I know its obviously very far fetched, but that has never stopped us before. The plot of land is in Westlake Village fyi. I am also starting to look into just an exotic used dealership, even with Auto Gallery up the street, i think there is room for more, especially since the Auto Gallery is nothing but a bunch of ****** who dont give people the time of day if they dont roll in with a Ferrari.

Next time you are driving towards Parkway Calabasas on the the 101 North, look off to your right side about a 1/4 mile before you reach the exit. You will see the structure being built. It's a 2 story, L-shaped building.
