Depends on what you have driven historically. It's relative. my other cars were m5s, m3s, and x5m and now I have a TTS. So a macsn turbo is still underpowered for me. But others say the macan s is more than enough.

Very subjective.

I drove the X5M. This seems to be similar in the 0-60 4.6 range. The S that I drove handled great! Makes sense! Thanks Jeff!

the torque curve is way different. the Macan is more linear and refined vs the X5M and M5 is all right at the front.

i drove the turbo and the s. bought the S and love it. no regrets, will do a tune when available and be done with it, however, 340hp/tq and 0-60 in 5s is plenty fast in a small SUV. Very quite cabin, very tight steering and extremely comfy 14 way vented seats. you give up some power over the turbo obviously but this 3L twin is no slouch.

Hey thanks for sharing! I appreciate your insights! What is the full list of equipment that you spec'd? What do you mean by tune? Like a performance chip from Porsche. Or a Porsche approved tune?

^i bought the S that i test drove, i do not have a lot of patience and it was spec'd fairly well

tune, aftermarket tune when available will cost around $2k and my bet is put the performance at that of the 3.6L turbo. 370-400hp is more than enough in this SUV

good luck

Went to San Diego Porsche today and checked out the Macan for the first time as a DD, they had a turbo on the lot, I was looking to test drive an S since I already have a 997.2 TTS. Didn't have an S to test drive and the backlog is until November. Should I just say Fk it and place the order?

Looking to option out about 65k. I really like the panoramic roof.

Just to be clear, an aftermarket tune would NOT be Porsche approved, and could void the warranty.

Also, you didn't mention what options your car has, such as PASM, Sport Plus, Air, PTV, etc.

Hi Guys, if you go with an S how important is it to have sport chrono to compensate for the diff in HP from the turbo?

Personally, I didn't order SC, as I don't see the value in having the engine shift at higher RPMs, and don't need launch control. On top of that, the "chrono" part of SC is, to me, useless. I'd rather have a simple clock on the dash than the SC lap timer. Since the car comes standard with Sport, you already get most of the benefits of SC, such as re-mapped throttle, firmer PASM setting, quicker shifts, higher shift points, etc. But everyone has different priorities.

Also, SC will make each engine faster from 0-60, but is will not compensate for the difference in HP or torque between the S and Turbo.
