I was given a prototype a few weeks back to drive in Stuttgart and put a few hundred miles on her - I loved the proportions (visually) over the Cayenne and found the steering and brakes more connected than the Cayenne - it was quick as all and got reasonable gas milage even on the autobahn. Interior layout was very very good - I am 6 foot 2 and it felt roomy

They seem to have the largest allocation in the area! They have a few more coming in, I'm hoping to jump into one of them.

But haven't test driven the turbo and I want to see how much of a step down power wise it will feel like from my m5

They tell me it will be a while before they get stock turbo orders in. All the ones they have coming are spoken for.

I forsee the Macan being Porsche's top seller.

For that to be the case wouldn't it have to have the highest production? Sick ride but those new boxsters are getting around and around.... hahah

Ordered an Agate gray/red/black turbo today for Oct. delivery. Burmester, 21's, etc. Best part is I get to keep my 991S until then. Back problems forcing a change.

Are you getting upgraded seats? Don't understand how switching from 991S to Macan can solve back problems.

Then you don't understand the geometry of one car being low to the ground thus forcing you to bend to get in as opposed to stepping in. I never understand people just not accepting that people know what they're doing.

Yes, each passing year I have found that getting in and out of the 911 is more of a chore. But when in the seat, it is heaven.

Getting the 14 ways. No seat will solve back problems but it can help mitigate it somewhat.

Getting in and out of the 991 can be rather difficult at times. I 'm no invalid and I figure I'll give the Macan a shot.

It's no 911 and don't expect it to be. Drove an S with the 14 ways and it was very comfortable. Besides, I have the option of not of not taking delivery of it at no penalty to me.

By the way, this will be my 13th Porsche, with 8 of them being 911's.

Anyway, hope I cleared up any confusion. It's all good.

My review:

So after much deliberation i picked up a Jet Black Metallic on Black Macan Turbo today. I've been eyeing it for a while but needed to actually see the dimensions before I committed. I went to the dealer on Saturday and the rear seat is fine, I don't think its any smaller than the Q5 (my neighbor has a Q5 that I sat in and measured)

It happened that they had one coming in that was a launch vehicle and unspoken for.

It has all the performance goodies, PASM, PVT and Sport Chrono. It also has carbon fiber side blades and carbon fiber interior / steering wheel. So all in all a well spec'd car.

I drove it 15 miles to my clear bra guy and my short initial impression is that it drives like a sedan, close to a Panamera. In Sport Plus, in standard mode it definitely felt more soft and SUV like. But no matter what anyone says it is not a coupe or 911.

The Turbo has good torque, its not gobs of torque that push you into your seat, but its smooth, linear and noticeable.

I would say its almost exactly like expected, my only disappointment is the engine and exhaust. They are unexpectedly quiet, very very little growl or rumble...I really thought buying a turbo would bring a little more oomph and a little more noise..but its quiet.

I'll post more pics when i get her back from the clear bra guy and more driving impressions.

Jeff
