Probably the earlier models 03 and late 02, 2005 seems to be the best bet.

Had an 05 E55 and had some problems. Sold it to a fellow 6 speeder who then had the fuel pump go out 3 times. No matter what year you get you may still have problems.

i think it was after 2004 where they changed the steering feel? you should look into it as i think the later models have a better handling feel than the previous models.

I have owned a 2003 E55 for 2 years and it's been bullet proof. The only problem was the intercooler pump, they go bad and was a problem with all 03-04. Other than that it's been the best car I've ever owned in terms of fast, comfortable, roomy and reliable. I also have mine for sale! Here's the link. I'm selling because I want to buy something else. It's like I said, it's alot cheaper to trade cars than women when your married!http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=330195200003

my friend has a 04, tranny is on its way out and the pump for the air to water intercooler gave up the ghost a while ago. also, when he got it, it went in and out of the stealer for supercharger noise...

'03 was the fastest year, but it also was the year MB recalled over 50,000 E-class cars for electronic gremlins. I had an '03 E500 that I lemon lawed and I also had a '06 E55 that had no issues what so ever and put down a healthy 415 whp bone stock. I would say go '05-'06 at the very least, they can be had very cheap and they are the best all around car I have ever driven IMHO.

'05-'06 are the best E55's...IMO

But you still have to keep in mind that they are Supercharged and need more maintance than other vehicles.

Just service it and remember to change the Spark Plugs often. And you'll be fine.

had a 2003, not the best choice...2006 feels much tighter and less problems as well.
