CLK 63 Black Series
Hi All:
I did a search on the reviews already but I am interested to see what current/previous owners think about the car now...if you have any input, please join the thread.
Thanks.

Everything I am hearing/reading says it's a great, unique car almost up there with the Porsche GT3. However, the price is still $20k too high to me. Try to sell one after a year and I bet you get killed. Dealers still want over sticker and seem to be getting it because I have watched these cars move.
My advice, wait to get a used one when someone gets bored with it (even though they shouldn't based on the street/track capabilities of this thing).
That's my game plan although I personally wish they left the back seats in it!
FYI, the 0-60 and 0-100 times of the CLK black and the the CLK63 convertible, E63, and CL600 are all about identical. For the money, the CLK black should be crushing these, but it doesn't. Just sayin'.

thats the issue. it is too expensive for me
Im really thinking about the CLK vert (only if it had the nice huge dual exhaust and rear dif. it would be awsome.

I have 2500 miles on my Black and have the Renntech ECU upgrade.so far. HRE is building a set of custom race wheels so I can get more rubber on the road. After alignment and lowering, we will see what it can do. The gain is impressive. The black is a very unique car. it's almost hard to discribe it's so different. I would say the best way to describe it is "Quick" in every way. Hartmut Feyhl Mr. AMG of Renntech and I discussed the car at SEMA. He said he was surprised AMG released such an agressive car. Not quite a DTM but very close ! I drive a race preped GT3 RS, Challenge Stradale, and sold a 600 hp GT-2 and race preped 996 GT-3 to name a few cars as my track cars. The most fun car of them all is the Black on the street ! It drives lighter than it weighs, big motor that has potential, 7 speed trans. that is the best I have ever seen for agressiveness, highter final drive ratio helps get it moving and good sound. The car feels small and looks great on the road. That just about sum's it up. When you compare cars at these performance levels they are very close. It's personal preference more than anything. With the full potential of the car unleasded it would stack up or beat most cars costing 2 and 3 times as much. Give me Klause Ludwig in a developed Black and I would take anyone on !
Don't get fooled on the price....
With the exception of maybe LA or SF, these are not MSRP items anymore. If you can find a smaller market dealer who has one, you can own it back of MSRP. I'm in the business, and have been offered two of these cars in the last month, both MSO, at triple net (that is, MSRP -markup-holdback-any factory ad charges, etc.). I love this car, but am going to hang on a while--I think there's much more depreciation to come.

I was at Foreign Cars Italia yesterday and they have a previously owned car with 2XX miles on it. The owner of the dealership bought it and changed his mind so they want to sell it. The asking price was $149,XXX
. He said the price was very negotiable. My main concern is the AMG depreciation. My only guess as to why the car might not be like all the other AMG cars is because if the rareness of it.

^^That's the thing, my dealer has three in stock...all are at MSRP BTW...the car is beautiful and it performs well on the street...but the drop these things will take can be deadly...hate to be someone that paid over MSRP although it is tough to anticipate how a car will do...
I've got 1900 miles on the car which 500 are track miles. I had a european delivery and raced it at the AMG Cup at the Sachsenring in Germany. On shorter tracks its as fast as the CLK DTM. The suspension is superior to the DTM but the the DTM packs a little for power and less weight.
I find it interesting that most of the CLK 63 Black owners are either former or current porsche turbo or gt3 owners. I really don't think you give up anything on the track to the porsche, and its a lot more fun on the street. The fit and finish fantastic. Brakes are incredible and it makes anything other than some exotics invisible when they are parked next to it.
A friend of mine in Oklahoma called me today telling me he just bought one from a broker and paid 136K. So even outside LA the prices are still firm.
I don't think these will depreciate like the SL65's as they have a a wider appeal with their trackability.
For anyone that thinks the acceleration of the normal cab 63 is the same they are dead wrong. Where this car shines is on the track, and I guarantee I'd lap a 63 cab in a 30 minute session. There is just nothing on the market that you can compare this too.
