Greetings - New (somewhat) E55 owner
Just wanted to say hello to this AMG forum. I purchased my 2005 E55 from a fellow in Cali in Jan this year. I lurk on MB World and now this forum. Below are a few pics of my baby (professional pics courtesy of previous owner). No major mods besides pulley and throttle body, but it's plenty fun.
I'm located in northern VA and get my service done at Funktion Auto. Anybody else go to the ChikFilA meets near Dulles mall on Friday nights?

I'm no expert, but I can tell you the aspects that led me to 2005. I heard that the 05/06 received some suspension/steering tweaks that the 03/04s didn't have. Then in 06, they introduced the accordion-type center console like what the current model has. I prefer the split center console. That being said, I would have gone for an 05 or 06. No matter what year you get, they are fun cars -- just make sure you get a warranty! I was lucky to find this beauty with a CPO warranty until 2010.

When you saw it, was the S55 parked next to me? That was pretty cool to park right next to another similar gen 55K car. I was only there to do some consulting work with my previous company in that building.
Very cool, I've seen that e55 on mbworld before. Never thought I'd see it around here. I made a post a while ago about purchasing an e55 or 996TT. Congrats, how was the delivery experience?

Differences courtesy of mbworld:
2003 and 2004 E55 Models:
- All 2003 models have NO NAVIGATION except for Presidential Series.
- All 2003 models have NO Spare Tire.
- The AC "Rest" feature left after the 2004 - 2005 transition.
- 2004+ E55s equipped with 'always ready' transmission buttons at the steering wheel. On the 03s, you have to press the transmission M/S/C button before the steering wheel buttons work ????
- 2004+ had the "smart" lighting system (head lights turn as the car turns).
- TPMS was an orderable option.
- If equipped with pano roof option, 2005 and 2006 have no solar panel.
- 200 mph speed gauge as opposed to 160 mph.
- Better suspension parts, mostly from CLS.
- Better steering rack, also from CLS.
- Slightly different supercharger clutch for smoother engagement.
- Slightly different IC pump.
- Aluminum Paddles.
- Sliding Center Console.
- TPMS cannot be ordered as an option anymore.
- Mercedes started using nano-ceramic paint technology.
Horseless Carriage experience was really good. Good communication and no issues with the car.
