I'm shopping for a family sedan as well and what i have researched so far is to avoid '03 and '04 model years...
Renntech ECU upgrade can net you around 50-60 more ponies....Cost wise i think it's around $2000 but i could be wrong...

call Ed or Jon at Harbor Motorsports 714.379.7770. he owns a very reliable low 11s E55 running +580WHP, which i believe is a 2004 W211. he works with Hyevon Motors in house performance and Vadim @ VRP. he'll take care of you with quality, urgency, and cash flow friendly service. to learn more about the company and there other customers such as myself. go to BMWvsMBZ.com or MyMBOnline.com or MBWorld.org....

hes capable of doin ported superchargers, heat exchangers, intercoolers, tuning, metal fabrication, throttle body, pulleys and etc....

closed thread lol haha

I posted some differences between the model years a few months ago in this forum, try searching my posts. 03 doesn't have Nav, I don't think.

Awesome car, are you buying from a dealer?

I think what is important is to go with a tuner you know that will help with support if you need it. Maybe find who one of your local tuners use and start your research from there.

I have had great personal experiences with RENNtech, but I'm sure everyone here has also had good experiences from LET, VRP and Kleemann as well.

For me having someone local to me was more important then saving a few bucks.

The car will be here Sunday. I had the LET Stg 2 installed while it was at the dealer in Chicago.

I will update once I have some seat time in it
