Rapidly falling prices: CLK63 Black for <$80k
Rapidly falling prices: CLK63 Black for <$80k
Been yearning for a CLK63 Black Series - there is one 4sale in the Bay Area (it's on eBay too I believe) for just under $80k. It has ~5k miles. Seems like a great deal assuming I can knock a few thousand more off. Any thoughts on the 2-3 year outlook on the depreciation on this car? I would think that once the economy settles, this will become a quasi collector car, especially if I keep the miles low. Any thoughts are great appreciated.
Here's a White one with 9k miles, started at 75k.

I've been watching these things....
pretty close, and I'm in the industry. I've yet to see a real car with a 7 in it. People keep saying they exist, etc, etc, but I have yet to see one. Also, the ebay car is a 10k mile car, which is the highest mile one I've seen. Not a bunch of miles of course, but still will be less than a 4k mile car. And of course, at 75, that's just the starting bid and won't meet the reserve. Keep me posted, as I'm an east coaster, are you on the left?

Here's a link to the car with the price starting with a 7 handle. Regarding the criticism of not being the type to pull the trigger, I've pulled it way too often lately and I just want to be more thoughtful on depreciation. I've currently got an M6 convertible, 997 Turbo, and a CLS55. In the past few years I also had a Dinan/HRE M5, Audi S4, SLK32, Lotus Elise, 997 S (w/ color matched forest green HRE's and exhaust/intake), and an SL55.

If I pull the trigger on the Black, it will be driven hard, but not tracked. In posting this thread, I was just hoping to get some thoughtful responses on the depreciation curve on the car over the next few years.

I think its a great daily driver although some might say the ride is a little firm for their tastes. I was using a Ferrari 550 as a "daily driver" for 6 years before I got the BS and I find the BS to be much more comfortable and easier to live with in traffic. My wife finds it more comfortable as well. Your 997 turbo is probably a little better all around DD with the 4 wheel drive, a little softer ride and the so called rear seats, but not by much.
there's also a new one advertised on cl in the sf bay area, asking price is $90k. not that i'd be in the market anyway, but i wish they had kept the back seats in there...although i guess that adds a bit of weight and doesn't fit the target market for the car.
At current prices, the car should hold unless the economy just blows up under us. Just keep in mind only 350 were made for the U.S. A number of them have been shipped abroad, which is why they started making everyone sign off on not shipping the vehicle outside of the U.S. for 12 mos. At 90k, this car's a bargain for what you get out of it
